It honestly saddens me quite a bit. I always loved coming up with different insignia's for different lances, and I know I'm not the only one.
Anyway, while I understand why it could be an issue (sorta, seeing an Urbie with an Apple logo hardly seems court worthy) I had a simple idea for getting them. As of now our forum names = pilot names, we also don't have custom avatars. Why not make it so custom avatars can be used as decals, this allows it to be moderated on the website instead of in game. We'd only be allowed to upload a single avatar (so we don't overwhelm) and it would have to be approved by forum Moderators before actually used in game. Even with only a 1 decal limit it could overburden forum mods, in which case I'd recommend moderators whose only responsibility is to approve/disapprove. Also make it so people that submit unusable avatars loose the right to do so for X amount of time/permanently. Who would moderate them?

Mechwarrior is still around today because of the borderline obsessed community. The majority of people here still have a hard on for the lore, so no Merc/Clan/House insignia's would slip through.
Thoughts, comments? I'd volunteer to help moderate custom insignia's.
