Convergence focuses on a point at maximum range unless pointing at a locked target in LOS.

Information becomes ammunition (or rather, a lack of wasting it.).

Baring the snarky title that sadly will likely mean it will not be read by a dev......this is actually a really good idea.

Darth Paul is a master of the Snark Side of the Force. About the only better thing I could have done was pink title text. :)

This... is actually a very good idea. Weapons only converge when a target is locked. This makes hill humping dual gauss/erppc builds rely on spotters.

Why did you have to write it with a poison pen?

Very good idea.

Better tweet it at Russ, what with Twitter being the official MWO forums and all.

Prepare your flameshield for all the incoming CoD-warriors though.

And with a clickbait title no less...

Because a little acid works better than honey when it comes to getting the playerbase's attention.

This one change makes sensor/sensor ranges and scouting matter in one fell swoop. That Raven picking out targets for your Gauss sniper at 1000m? Credit to team. Poptarting? Better have a friend keeping an eye on things, or you're shooting "iron sights". Hill humping? Same deal.

They'll seriously want to flip some obvious quirks, like Hunchback having trouble with short-range target acquiring does on PTS. By comparison, the Grid Iron will want long-range sensor quirks to help it with Gauss sniping.

And makes the convergence skill actually useful.

Thinking about this more... it also solves poptarting (which is a form of hill humping I guess).

As for the CoD warriors, 100 tons of gear doesn't focus quick enough for l33t no-scope headshots. You gotta tell the targeting computer what you're aiming at.

Fantastic idea. Re-title the thread so it'll get the attention of the dev.

Can't change the title- that's a mod thing, IIRC.

snarky like telling ppl that if you think the ACH is OP then you "believe 9-11 was an inside job?" Cause that was a Twitter post by PGI...

REPORTED!

And I told them to take a good look at this because it is a good idea worth of theory-crafting and testing. :)

Not a bad idea. It'd also be cool if we could get component sub-targeting if locked long enough.
