So what are people coming up with? I have the non-hoppy Grasshopper:

BL-6-KNT
2 AMS, 8 face-melting MPLs, full armor, max XL engine

If you love it, you should have put more MLs on it. MOOOOAAAARRRRR

Trying to figure out how to take advantage of the ERPPC quirk, but I think only one would make it heat-manageable. Maybe SPLs?

BL-6B-KNT

If only I had more hard points I would put more, but alas my poor knight could not mount any more weapons.

I modified this build to what my personal preference would be for it.

Changed the Medium lasers to 6 medium pulse lasers. I had to drop the ams and BAP to do it.

You sir have the right idea. I like it. Hit them at long range with those ERPPCs and when they get close finish them off with the Med lasers. It still has all those heat sinks to make it heat efficient I believe if you are only using the PPCs or Lasers. I Love it.

I've been running this: BL-6-KNT

Essentially a smaller, hotter, much less effective wubmaster.

I've had games ranging from good to ok with it thus far, but I'm a tier 5 scrublord so take that with a grain of salt.

Is it weird I'm really curious what my my tier is? I'm still at work for another four hours, so won't be able to check it until then. I'm guessing I'm 3-4: door kickers aren't really rewarded in this game.

I'm thinking the BK might be a good SPL vehicle. Put one or two "pokers" on it, then make the rest SPLs? Something like this:

I like being able to see my tier. It gives me something to work towards, and boy do I have a lot of work ahead of me.

The Knight might not be such a good ride for SPLs. It's mobility is not all that great, which would make bringing your weapons to bear pretty difficult. Even harder is to create a situation where you can go into optimal SPL range, do damage, and actually be able to get out relatively intact if things get messy.

I'm not entirely sure though. I need more time with it.

My thought would be the LPLs would be getting most of the work, but if someone got up close, the SPLs, especially since they don't have ghost heat and high refire rate, would wreck faces. Six of them together is about 6 DPS, which is pretty respectable.

My style with this thing, as with most "big" Heavies, is to stick with the Assaults. As long as there's a whale or king crab nearby, they probably won't be taking shots at the BK.

BL-6-KNT

Take advantage of the range perk while putting most DPS on the twin LPLs.

Use the single ERLL for da pokey and enjoy.

Plus you use EVERY available slot.

Yeah, that could work then. The low hardpoints will give you a hard time though. I cannot even begin to describe the frustration this mech has caused me at times.

BL-7-KNT (Mechwarrior 4: Mercs Black Knight Stock)
BL-6B-KNT (Mechwarrior 4: Mercs Solaris VII 'Hero' Black Knight stock+)
BL-6-KNT (stock+)
BL-7-KNT-L (Inspired from stock?)

The 4 builds I brainstormed at work. Will hope to use them soon when I come home...

Also this things alpha scares me... It's heat quirks roughly puts it same heat efficiency as Timberwolf, is more durable due to Standard engine... and higher alpha that is enough to rip most heavy mechs side torsoes off in 1 alpha... BL-7-KNT (The Timberwolf Destroyer)
