The Bad - I wanted to try a Novaturion-AH but those darn locked DHS hamper me.

Spoiler

The Good - Novaback-4SP does as well as Hunchback-4SP with 1 more laser and jump ability, you get 3 alphas before needing to cool off.

you can build it as any other nova

the only unique hardpoint it's arm missiles which are useless

the most popular nova builds it's 2 ppc, 10spl [4mg] or like 6 ml

Wasn't useless for me as shown, Novaback rocks the 2 Missile launchers.
My other one is 4cERML + 4cSPL, nice mix of range & brawl with corner peeking.

I've been running a similar SRM build and I've been having a blast with it.

as a LRM boat, it sucks it cnanot carry enough ammo, SRM builds for it is terrible as it is a 50 tonnner without the ability to pack a short range punch. All in all another mech for the collection of meh.

Also 2xMPL 6xSPL is nice if you're afraid of going 10 spl...
And 6xERSL 4xERML for a nice mix of brawl&poke

Nova has hardwired DHS, no Endo and Ferro upgrades. Using anything other than lightweight lasers is not optimal for the mech. You've got the 2 slot DHS. You've got lots of empty critical slots. Just keep all of them filled and you've got a solid build.

I tore mine apart, threw prime arms on it and the c lt torso. Also put a b I think rt. Two ermls in the arms, one erml in the lt and stk6 in the rt and beagle in the head. Haven't tested it yet.

Missile hardpoint would of been much better in the right torso so it could have one on each torso.

6 smalls and an LB-10x isnt too bad and is easier to manage than a small/small pulse boat. Im also considering doing 2 MPLs and 6 smalls so theres less of a range difference than using small pulses as mentioned above. The most fun build by far will always remain 12 flamers and 4 mgs. In general the Nova is too slow an squishy to brawl properly I dont care what you put on it.

Prime arms with 5 med lasers on each. 2 OP machine guns on either side torso, AMS with 1 ton in the head, and two tons of MG ammo with as many heat sinks as you can carry is a good build for it. the lasers give good poking ability well the OP machine guns tear through components and equipment because well. there OP. Though recently I've slapped an LRM 15 on there with a ton and a half of ammo. that works good too because you can harass other mech's you cant see well closing the distance for the MG's.

I don't care for the NVA-D hardpoints, but here's the secret: if your Nova has a side torso with no weapons mounted in it, switch that side torso to the D-omnipod from your your loyalty mech. Nova-D has the most durable side torsos.

I swapped the LRM20 for an LRM10, one cERML in each side torso and swapped the LBX5 for a cUAC5. Works much better for me. And this is the only proper clan mech I have, so its been interesting driving it.

Like most others say, its better off using other variants omnipods. I just took S Side torsos and Prime arms and shoved 12 Small lasers and 4 mgs and blammo, instantly the same as I run any other nova I own. Does well enough that people lose a component fast enough surprisingly enough. Firing 5, if you run 10, or 6, if you run 12 small lasers runs pretty cool for the most part if you run 2 tons of mg ammo and the rest of the space filled with heatsinks.
