Zeus-9S2[L]

Generic quirks, overabundance of Ballistic and Missile hardpoints, I am stumped on anything to try.
I did Master my 3 Zeus but never shone with them.

2 Large Laser
1 Gauss
STD250
Not for everyone.

2 medium lasers
2 lrm 15s w/5 tons of ammo
1 srm 4 w/1 ton of ammo
2 dubs
Left the stock engine in. Have been doing surprisingly well with this build so far!

2 ML
3 ASRM6 /w 300 ammo
AMS /w 2000 ammo
BAP, CCOM
325 XL
It is tempting to put LRMs on the ZEUs due to the missile range and the huge tube count. But with the T6 variant I had started to add 2 SRMs on the arm to augment the close range punch (LRM15, ASRM4, ASRM6); so just took it one step further with the 3 ASRM6 for the 9S2 variant. ;-)

1 erll
2 lrm10 4t ammo
xl320
2dhs
Max armor
Its good, might pick up 2 more to elite

XL320, 2xLPL, AC10, LRM 20
and
XL320 2xERPPC, 2xAC5, LRM10
Will be messing around with some SRMs, but I don't generally use SRMs so I am sure I won't care for it. Possibly some streaks, but that tonnage/damage....

Standard 325
Endosteel
Double Heat Sinks (13) (3 in engine)
Ferrofibrous
Ac10 with 2 tons ammo
2 large lasers
3xsrm2 with 2 tons ammo, could cut down a half ton more armor for more srm ammo...
(Should have 3 slots left open)
483 armor points covering everything except a little off the legs or somewhere you choose to skimp. Front heavy if you like (max is 494)
Runs at about 72kph with tweak, resilient. Able to repeatedly pound and panic opponents with ac10 hits, accompanied with chainfire of srm2 on crack, with much increased range due to chassis quirks and a faster ballistic to boot. Not face meltingly brilliant, but the large laser fired binary are nice for a range that also compares to the AC10. In close, those 40 ac 10 rounds really do work and a rain of 3xsrm2 accompanying it on same ARM reticule really can almost have a shotgun like effect, making an LBX10 irrelevant - as if it ever were even. Alpha is a bit above 40 up close, 28 at mid range, but I cannot stress enough that those srms can be quite dangerous despite only being srm2's they are highly accurate and as distracting as massed ac fire when chained continually - and that's more of what this about, not a single flash in the pan alpha but a dps chunking away with the srms and ac10. It is not bad.

55km/h without speed tweak, but it's like a Catapult that can punch at long range in direct modes. I've had some luck with it.

Of course you are no tank in this Zeus but you are fast and agile for an assault.

I went with a rather generic this:
ZEU-9S2(L)
x2 AC5s, x2 MLs, x3 SRM4s, AMS (you can dump this for more ammo, I just like having it on all my mechs, if possible)
Not going to strike fear in the hearts of the enemy, by any means, but I had a few really good games with it.

Here are the two builds:
Zeus-9S2(L) If don't want to read further, try this build it is pure evil!!!
Victor-DS
As you can see they are almost identical. The big difference is my Zeus had not chassis skills unlocked, and my DS had all basic and speed tweak unlocked.
I figured I would get similar performance, but I was so wrong I cannot even begin to tell you. I averaged around 480 Damage over 10 matches (never had less than 400) in the Zeus and about 150 Damage in the DS over 10 matches (never had more than 200 in a match and had several below 100). During those 10 matches I did not level either chassis further than they were when I started this.
After these drastic differences (I figured 10 matches was enough to gauge and rule out quality of drops) I looked at the quirks and compared them. My guess is the Zeus while having less quirks has far superior quirks.
Here is how I looked at the Quirks:
Dragon Slayer Quirks
Arm Yaw: 20 °
Max Engine: 400
GAUSS RIFLE COOLDOWN: 5.00 % (Not Noticeable)
BALLISTIC COOLDOWN: 5.00 %
LASER DURATION: -5.00 %
MISSILE COOLDOWN: 10.00 %
MISSILE VELOCITY: 10.00 %
ACCELERATION RATE: 40.00 % (Broken?)
DECELERATION RATE: 40.00 % (Broken?)
TURN RATE: 25.00 % (Broken?)
TORSO TURN RATE (YAW): 40.00 %
TORSO TURN ANGLE (YAW): 15.00
ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE (LL): 17.00
ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE (RL): 17.00
Zeus 9S2(L) Quirks
ENERGY HEAT GENERATION: -10.00 %
BALLISTIC VELOCITY: 20.00 %
LASER DURATION: -10.00 %
MISSILE COOLDOWN: 15.00 %
MISSILE VELOCITY: 10.00 %
ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE (LL): 17.00
ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE (RL): 17.00
ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE (CT): 15.00 (Amazing!)
ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE (LT): 17.00 (Amazing!)
ADDITIONAL STRUCTURE (RT): 17.00 (Amazing!)
My guess is the CT, LT, and RT Structure quirks are huge factor for the Zeus. Also the Ballistic Velosity seemed significant as well.
Ironically I think the Dragon Slayer Acceleration, Deceleration, and Turn Rate are broken. With those numbers, and having basics unlocked, should feel like it is accelerating and tuning better than the Zeus with no chassis skills. But that was not the case. Just the feel of acceleration when you start moving at the beginning of a match was significantly better in the Zeus. I have no number to back that up, but just playing it there was an extremely noticeable difference. Also the DS' Ballistic and Gauss Cooldown were not noticeable at all, it only total 10% so it probably would not be significant.
One positive for both is they were extremely easy to manage heat.
So even with out JJs this Zeus variant seems far superior to the Victor.

Be thankful you are not in a Victor. From my little experience the +15/17 Structure this chassis gets is huge!

Compared to what it used to have the Zeus is in sad shape. I used to regularly run them, i'm not anymore, stripping them all down for parts.

2x AC5
STD300
Really tanky sword and board build.

1x Gauss rifle with 1x AC2 linked to it, shakes the enemies screen while the Gauss cools, good for long range
3x SRM6 with modules, can hit enemies at 330 or so meters and does a lot of damage and 1x TAG to help LRM boats.
STD 250 engine makes a little slow for a Zeus, 54 kph, but seems to do ok.
Not the greatest build but passable so far.
