You see, when MWO goes on Steam current accounts should be reset, skills, XP and money back to 0.
Our owned mechs should still be ours, as if we just bought them.
Understand that any items bought with MC will be untouched.

How do you feel about this?
Are there anything you feel should be reset or not?
Very many tears will be dropped for this, but I feel it is just.
Everyone of us with experience can certainly get our skills/money back faster than the new guys anyway.

Beginning new like this may just make you look at the game differently.
Even make you enjoy it more with a new perspective on things.
Earnings might be better after Steam, so it might not be too bad.
No, I think this will be good, getting everyone back at the starting line again.

This seems a good idea as there will be many new players coming.
Really, it's only fair for everyone to start from the beginning when the game is released out of beta stage.
Only the really stubborn will have anything against this.
Look, if you think about it it makes sense as I explained above.
Leave your pride behind and look at it from the new guys view.
Everyone will profit from this, in a gameplay sense.
Deny it if you must.

No - the Vets will still be Vets and feast on New Players that way.

EDIT:

Are you completely insane? No, this is a terrible idea.

If you couldn't buy anything with real money, perhaps then it would be OK. But if they did this, they would need to completely refund everyone's money they spend on MC, 'Mech packs, and otherwise. This would require PGI to produce incredible amounts of money they don't own. That money has gone into development and other things.

If they DID somehow manage to give everyone their payed-for stuff (MC, c-bills, 'Mech packs) then it would defeat the point, as those people would start with tons of stuff.

There is no way to make this idea work. It is terrible and you should feel terrible.

What?

So every mech I've ever purchased with $$$ will still be there (that's Phoenix Overlord, Wave 1, 2, 3, Resistance 1, the BK, all my loyalty mechs, all my hero mechs, and Founder's Fatlas). And I presumably will be set back to Tier 4 as well?

Dude, that would be bad. There's nothing stopping me from farming Steam Bads making them ragequit the game and give it bad reviews.

I got a better idea OP, how about you take a long walk off a short jetty into a shark infested ocean.

Tool.

I am very surprised how overlooked the troll has been. I got it immediately. Obvious troll isn't so obvious :P.

I completely agree with OP. I would like to add that a mandatory memory wipe for all current players should also be introduced to insure fair and level playing field.

Hail equality!

Hey, that sounds like a great idea. Neutralize all those stats and throw all the Tier 1 players in with the Steam n00bs.

Brilliant idea.... If you enjoy watching baby seals get clubbed.

The equipment might be equal, but the experience and skills aren't.

Again.

Dont'

Do

Crack

@OP: Nice Troll job!

Looking over the first page of responses, how long did it take people to catch on that the OP wasn't serious? I mean, he did say to read it vertically! It's just not that hard to find his hidden message y'all!

Thanks for making me smile. :)

To be fair, he didn't edit that into the OP until he had about a page and a half of responses.

Me? I bit, haven't seen one of these vertical initialism trolls in a good long while, had practically forgotten about them.
