So... back in ye 'ol glory days of Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries... jump jets could be used in multiple direction... (IE I had my setup so the HOME key jets forward, END key backwards, PAGE UP was right and INS was left). Will simular movements be possible with JJ in MWO or is it simply a straight up in the air booster for now? (Tried searching Jump Jets in the forum search and Jump Jet Movement and nothing signifigant came up so thought I'd post....)

Yes. Boosting. Strafing. Skating. Barrel rolls. Loops. Immelmans. All that fun stuff.

I've heard them confirm this.. I just forget where I saw them say it.. there was some reference to the Frozen City reveal they did where you can see the mech change directions in mid air..

Raised eyebrow in your general direction. Mechs don't barrel roll. Come on. :P

Shooting a Jump Jetting Urbie in mid air in the legs and MAKING it barrel roll doesn't count ;)

I hate to mention it but have you seen the [RETRACTED] video?

That showed some nice jump jet footage.

IMMELMAN TURN!

Seriously, jumps jets as boosters? I wonder if that is really a good idea - on the other hand...

Giving light mechs forward boosting power to go 150 km/h+ (had a clan mech going 180 in MW2)...

So...will body slams be a viable tactic (or leg slam in the case of bullet urbies...)

should be able to jump several hundred meters in most any direction. That includes mech skating if they have the ground obstacle clearance. Say the standard 10-20 meter vertical before transition to horizontal boost. That would represent a sizable portion of the jump jets just getting to transition altitude, limiting the distance of the skate.

Oh is this Macross Online?

Where our mechs can strafe and then transform into a fighter jet and fly around?

I had though they said in a podcast that jump jets were only a lift mechanic and had o directional control? No problem if it is otherwise, just wondering which way it really is going to be.

Not sure what version of MW it was but the one where you could add more Jump Jets and skate around the field was so OP :)

THIS.

That would be a BAD move, not to mention physics would be broken by having a 50 tonner suddenly sweep sideways in mid run and NOT loose their balance or DODGING shots.

Lets not even go into the speedboosts for forward moving mechs..

No, keep them as they are intended - JUMP jets.

Yes please to MW2:Mercs-style jump jets. I thought all MW games worked that way, then I played MW3 and MW4 and was sorely disappointed by them.
