For those of us that know the battletech/Mechwarrior history, you already know about the WOB... Word of Blake and the Jihad on the Inner Sphere that took place. My question is primarily for those that would like to play a WOB faction over a true house faction and or even Clan. So... Who would like this and why?

The WoB ruined Battletech and the Jihad was simply ridiculous. Any TT Battletech campaign I run stops at 3067 - WoB are there, but they only have a small presence (if any).

Do we get to rain nuclear missiles down on planets we don't like?

No way. I'd join the Word of Focht (what I like to think of as the Heimdall of Comstar to the Wobbies' Loki and one of the good thing to come out of MW:DA), but never the WoBs.

I'd love to play against them, though.

Maybe someday down the road we will even be able to play the Jihad! That's is quite some time I suppose.

This.

I don't much care for ComStar either, beyond them having cool toys, but WoB did, in fact, completely ruin the Battletech running storyline for me. The Clans were bad enough, from my point of view - WoB was basically the most horrible thing to ever happen to Battletech.

Yeah, I don't know what the writers were thinking.

"Let's basically reset the ******* galaxy by offing all the characters anybody cares about."

most of the time my answer is no. They killed the game and book series. They were taken to far in my opinion. They only way i would play them is if i can be in the wolverine divisions. If my memory is correct the last of the wolverines are in the wob shadow divisions. I forget which units though.

I have to concur the WoB pretty much ruined the story line. Look I would be the first to admit that BT got away from its roots as a scavenger society with high tech machines that they are trying to desperatly maintain with out the tech base. I thought it was a cool premise and wished they had stuck with it. However, destroying the IS was NOT the way to get it back to that point. They could have done this instead and not messed with the time line at all....go back in time and pick up the story line in like 2900. The succesion war has been going on for sometime and society is failing. Its way before technology is re-introduced into the IS and lots of lostech caches have not been found that could be exploited. The material in this era was never covered very much so there is a lot of freedom to carry on stories that would not mess up the future timeline.

I played WoB before their Jihad-Storyline. I decided that they would be my new house after they seperated from Comstar.

I like Comstar. I like Marik. So Word of Blake seemed to be the best mixture between Comstar and Marik and was very appealing.

Then they were so mysterious - what were their plans? No one knew. Then they suddenly took over Terra - made them even cooler.

Their mechs, all interesting designs. Marik-style machines, then the C3i-developments...

If they would be available I would choose the Word of Blake. But personally I don't like the way the Battletech-lore took after the Great Refusal. FedCom Civil War was, well, not that interesting to me and the whole Jihad thing...not for me.

WoB is the reason that they made MWDA they couldn't continue after the Btech franchise Aborted the story with the WoB storyline.
