2 tons of MG ammo for 1 MG is probably 1.5 tons too much.

You'd be far better off with 1-2 DHS (plus DHS upgrade in the engine) and 3 ML.

Just wanna chip in to all the other advice given here.

In my opinion, the 4G's best role is as a direct support fire/ fast response/ skirmisher.

Let me try to put it in to perspective. You see this alot in movies, one guy fighting a group of people, he's kicking *** all over the place, and-BAM!!-, he gets knocked the eff out by someone with a bat. Then fade to black.

The HBK-4G is the someone with a bat.. and your bat of choice is the AC/20. I have tried alot of other alternatives. AC/10, LB10x, AC/5, AC/2.. but none of them are as satisfying as the boom of firing that sweet AC/20, and hearing the round hit, like ringing a church bell.

I'm going to assume you know how to play, and are just asking for builds, so here are mine:

The punk with the bat (referencing a post made by a guy long ago):

RT armor front loaded, 4 tons of ammo ensures much bang bang (one ton of ammo can be traded out for 1 MLas, but in my experience, that extra MLas is more of a hindrance heat wise than it is helpful). STD250 engine provides you with the 10 heatsinks to keep that AC/20 and 2 MLas fairly cool for all but the most intense firefights.

Alternate fun builds that had a decent amount of success:

AC/2 Suppressive fire:

Group fire when at range, chain fire up close. 4G's quirks allow a decent rate of fire with just 2 AC/2s. Just remember to always aim in the region of the head/cockpit for maximum blinding effect. But if you absolutely must have 3 AC/2s, then...

Less ammo, more ghost heat, but impressive ROF especially when macro-ed. (only 3-4 secs of happiness each time though... those guns will burn you right quick.

mandatory MG troll build:

(troll build is pretty fun actually)

For the hunchback, speed is life, therefore the big engines, better speed, better turn rate, better hit and fade, better response, better survivability.

No CASE because your goal is to UNNLOOOADDDD on those mother lovers, and no ammo means no ammo explosions... people rarely aim for the legs on hunchies, and in situations where they have the luxury to pick off your legs probably means that you got yourself into a bad position to begin with.

No AMS either because you are fast enough to find cover 80% of the time, for the other 20% of the time your 1 puny AMS probably won't save your butt anyway. Also, you gonna need all the ammo you can carry.

That's about it. Sorry for bad english. Posted Image

Stick with the AC20 4tons ammo 2ML 250 Std. FF Endo build. It's what the Hunchie was made for and it is glorious. Stick with the group and poke between your meatshields.. I mean teamates, and you can put down mechs left and right. Every once in a while you'll be the last one left and get stuck by yourself and your screwed, but you can at least take a few with you.

Its nice too because you can swap out the AC20 for a gauss and 3 tons of ammo pretty easily.
