Would you rather have more maps or more mechs?

Please vote.

If you believe we should have more mechs, then what is needed immediately?

If you believe we should have more maps, then what is needed immediately?

Please provide an explanation below toward your stance.

My Stance:

We used to have a mech and a map released together. Now we don't. More maps are needed.

My suggestions toward a map:

There was a thread I had made that was for a map that included one single central point inside of a hollowed out mountain that was a mech hangar, and both teams enter on either side (snowy side and a desert side). Inside of the map was one central node with turrets defending. Each team had to venture inside, destroy turrets along the way and capture the central node. It was called "The Kerensky Mines". The team that held the center node the longest (captures the most resources today ??) would win.

Thanks for your time everyone.

No question for me, more maps!!! :) :)

Remember, mechwarrior 4, or living legends? Maps greatly outnumbered quantity of mechs. I think eventually MWO should be the same way.

Gotta vote more maps because I'm getting to know the maps a bit too well already.

However I often find myself wondering how hilarious it would be to have battle armor in the game.

One would have to vote for maps. There's little point with more mech chassis, as they only exist to be twinkied to the max in the mechlab - which isnt really a good thing.

But maps are always good. More maps. Preferrably without **** to get stuck on. Maps with random, procedurally generated content. Maps with destructable environments. Lore-friendly maps (I was so disappointed when I went to Caph for CW and there were no dinosaurs around..not even mentioned in the planet's desciption). Maps where you have to fight in the shade unless you want to be fried by unshielded solar rays. Maps with unsure footing. Maps with hostile atmospheres that adds to your crit chance. Maps dedicated to specific strategies or mech capabilities. Horribly unfair maps. Maps with more randomized drop points. Maps with randomized delayed drop points - hey, even Leopard pilots aren't perfect.

voted more maps,
especially for CW so they can at least do themed planets, you know even just simple hot/cold lush/desert/snow type stuff, i dont mind if they'd reuse the environment textures they already have, not every new map has to be a unique and alien looking landscape like for instance grimm portico

Lol. I don't have c-bills to spend on new mechs, hard enough just mastering one tier. More maps of course, also perhaps more importantly...more game modes. Like a VIP escort mode, or a steal the flag/data, etc.

I want a map with very few open areas. Sniping would still be possible by climbing onto hills/buildings or looking down a long straight street.
Urban or hilly maps or anything at all. Just no more maps where 30% of the map is just water or a flat area with no cover.

I don't care if the map is hot or cold or anything between.

More Maps?
The players of this game don't want more maps - its either Canyon Network, Froze City or HPG everything else only when those are not an option.

Otherwise - give me a battlefield that looks like BattleMech terrain - polar highlands style - no linear level design like Frozen or Canyon - or those CW maps for the most part.

More maps !

Need a real city map : with huge building, like the MW4 city in the campain.

We can made several other maps :
- a coast with a big sea, with the hability to hide in the water for real, not the actual sea we have in forest (depth equal 2 meters maximum)

- a swamp area without trees and with some fog (like MW4 campain too)

- a forest without huge trees, only with normal trees where mechs can hide

- a map with a some countryside landscape : big fields and some farms, tractors, animals...

In fact i would like to think that i am in an actual giant robot. In most of the maps, they are all designed like map of FPS games : there is a lot of areas to hide, some elements are too big (trees of forest colony or insects of viridian...)
Most of the times you shouldn't have big covers in giant stompy robots... The problem is that the TTK is to quick in this game, that's why they are stuck with FPS type maps...

And we really need to see humans and animals in maps. Where the **** are everybody ? Are they all dead ? I want to crush small humans who runs away in the city maps !!!!!

There is nothing I'd love more than more mechs. There's just so much that I want to see, soooo much... but, thinking about the game, and what's more important for it, I feel more maps- and perhaps updates to older maps- are more important. The maps MWO has now are fine, but more maps adds a kind of diversity that'd make it alot harder for people to pick the same two (Polar Highlands and Grim Plexus) maps over and over and over again. It could cause old maps we all know and love like Terra Therma, Forest Colony and Caustic Valley to make a return. None of that is sarcasm either. People hate maps they have to think to play in, but MWO is a game that requires you to think and I feel like more maps with a larger variety of terrain types and layouts would really allow people to be more flexible with their tactics and there have been alot of cool map ideas proposed. Another space map perhaps (Mechs can fight on a space station or maybe even on a freakin' ship. /That'd/ be cool), a map with changing ambient temperature, Or maybe, even a map for Solaris VII fights that everyone seems to want.

It is a bit sad that people don't want to play maps that they have to think to play in. MWO is a game that really requires alot of co-operation, communication and thought to play to it's fullest potential. But it is a bit true. I feel like, more maps would reduce the probability of people picking those same two or three maps again by keeping the same number of choices per game while giving people more options to choose from.
I want to be able to play a map where I can build a mech for heat control or build a mech made to utilize the broken terrain rather than just waiting to see which team has more LRMs or which team has more laser boats. It's always the builds that go to the far extremes in the maps that people like, that work.

I desperately hate Polar Highlands because it's huge, flat, and boring, but everyone constantly votes for it.
I just don't understand... Posted Image

Anyway; more maps. Many more maps.
Just taking existing maps and laying them out a bit differently would be fine. Maybe have 3 or 4 versions of each map so that people won't know which one they'll be getting. Anything to shake it up a bit...

Hell, just removing map voting would help, so people wouldn't be stuck on the same 4 maps 90% of the time...

The only scenario in which I would be fully satisfied with the number of maps is when (and if ever) we get UNIQUE maps for EVERY PLANET on the Ineersphere map.

I mean like a set of saaay, 10 maps that you can only get on a certain planet, and nowhere else. And then all those maps are put into rotation for quickplay.

This would litterally be a few hundread maps or so.. but it would bring REALISM.

Right now, if you land on a map, it can be on any god-forsaken planet out there.

What I would like is for even quickplay to bring some sence of "impact on the war as a whole".. so when I land on a map I'm like, ok, so we're fighting on Tharkad... cool.

An even better idea would be if from those few hundread maps total, only those sets that belong to contested planets would be available for quickplay at any given time.. The realism would be quite high then, wouldn't it?

Naturally, then this would bring many unused or infrequently used maps.. but this could be handled with "raid missions"... why not take a single 12-man dropship and fly it behind enemy lines? Maybe even into special "assasination" or "Suicide" missions taking place on special targets and on planets deemed "safe" by their factions holders?

The possibilites would be endless..

So yeah.. you know.. more maps please PGI :-D

I'd like to see more urban and forested maps. Maybe when they fix the speed in water thing, we can get some ocean maps.

There are plenty of mechs in the game at the moment so I would like PGI to concentrate their effort on maps of which there are comparitively few. A proper city map would be good (I mean like the centre of Washington DC for instance).

Perhaps there are plenty, for IS that is. Clans have relatively few to pick from, and even fewer that are effective. What I would recommend to PGI, for some semblance of balance between the two factions, is to stop adding IS mechs to the game after the Phoenix Hawk and the Cyclops and add more Clan mechs, such as the Black Lanner, the Black Python, the Linebacker, and the Fire Falcon (You didn't think I was going to say Fire Moth, did you?). That way, Clans would have more options for mechs that could possibly be effective.

Even though there are mechs I'd like to see added that would add flavor to our current roster, I had to vote for maps.

I would agree the Clan roster needs help but there's a few IS mechs I'd want, so the current run of Clan mechs is good but I'm looking forward to the next IS mech.
