Wait, what? It is Battletech. Are you discussing real world physics? Like Star Wars, Battletech doesn't make sense. And we don't care.
But we like it as it is, capiche?

Yes, I want timeline accurate mechs.
Yes, I want timeline accurate weapons/equipment.
Yes, I want canonical mechs and loadouts (and variants, if possible).
Yes, I want equipment with the canonical weight and size (so the canonical loadouts are not broken).

PGI so far is doing fine. No need to go nuts right now.

PS: I don´t care if PGI decides to jump the timeline ahead in let´s say, 8 years, as long as she keeps consistency with the new timeline.

I was just trying to point out why it doesnt matter what mech they want or vote for. its fun to play a game for a bit and let stuff slide for awhile. But now I think its time to get a little bit more for the money. I want to play a game that carries the tag "a thinking mans shooter" as it is claimed. Right now were all playing a version called Meta Warrior Online where we dont think about anything. NO team work. NO comms, No problem. I take it you dont want to play a better game and are perfectly happy.

If you want the items listed in your post you have to push sometimes and not settle.

Also ignored are energy usage of weapons.

SO, all weapons generate heat, thats great.
How do they generate the heat? They use energy created by an engine.
How much energy does an engine create? I dont know but from what I have seen they all make the same amount the only difference is the size of the engine.
But how much energy does each weapon use? Thats a good question?
Hmm, Im going to go out on a limb here and say zip, 0, zilch, none.

Lets say that a STD 200 engine produces 200kW of energy and can move a 75 ton mech. The mech has eight 25kW medium lasers. 100kW is needed to move the mech and 200kW is required to fire all 8 lasers simultaneously. Some simple math here shows us that 100kW+200kW=300kW. 300kW is needed to do those task. The extreme current draw should simply shutdown the mech immediately without warning not due to heat generation but due to...THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ENERGY TO FIRE ALL THOSE LASERS. But thats not how it goes in the realm of MWO physics. Like I said ignored.

Ichen, all this remembers me Wing Commander and X-Wing. Agree 100%.

I don't know what are you playing, but I do think, use team work and comms.

- Am I happy with the game? Yes, I am! I wouldn't be playing it every week and following the forums every day for almost 4 years if I wasn't.
- Mistakes were made? Yes, for sure.
- Could the game be improved? Of course! It is improving, one patch at a time.
- Could it improve faster? Maybe... PGI is a small company - to sustain itself in this F2P system, it needs to run lean, with a small team. And I'm thankful for that! It means PGI can work in MWO for many years.

What people expect is a huge game done at once, but that PGI can't do. Mechwarrior is a very niche game. You can't spend hundreds of millions in manpower developing a niche game. So I'm thankful PGI is so respecting to the lore instead of making a Mech Assault Online for the masses (and ditching it after one year for another recycled installment).

You guys need to see what the game is and not what the game could be. And MWO is a very good game already, very honest with an IP many people here love for decades.

Wow, Black Lanner and Viper are really fighting for the spotlight, right?

Here is a suggestion, PGI. Release the Clan Wave IV like this (picked the most voted mechs):
  • Light: Fire Moth
  • Medium: Black Lanner
  • Heavy: Night Gyr
  • Assault: Kingfisher
The Viper should be a reward for owners of both Wave III and Wave IV top tiers (like you did with the Mad Dog).

This helps to sell the Kingfisher tier, as some people might pass it because of that Std. Engine... BTW, remember to give good quirks to the Kingfisher (and a small Center Torso), so it can be a really good mech.

PS: for Wave V (after a non-omni Clan pack, please), I can see the Fire Falcon, the Huntsman, the Linebacker and the Turkina.

PPS: for Wave VI (in 1 or 2 years - and that will be a major seller): Hellion, Mongrel, Nova Cat and Blood Asp. Maybe a reward Cougar for owners for Wave V and VI?

@Odanan I do play the same game you do. I have since the open beta was available. I knew it was a work in progress then. My hope was that it wasnt going to be a work in progress 4 or 5 years later. Since this is getting off topic and I dont want to detract from the others making their votes. I will refrain from posting any further here.

Funny that so many people are obsessed with the humanoid mechs, I am frankly tired of mechs that offer the same ergonomics and looks.

Check Sarna: http://www.sarna.net...i/Warhammer_IIC

only 2 configs use weapons of this timeline. No Heavy Laser / ATM launcher / Hyper Assault Rifle

53 votes for stupid medium mechs?
Seriously must be all those green pigeons and junk worms..... BattleCobra is the worst option for a MWO Mech,
all weapons in the arms, STD Fusion, almost no difference in the variants and given its artwork its a mini awesoem as wide as a barn (not to mention that the crossbow is as bad as the cobra)

and the Lanner? wtf... well its fast and has MASC but the smaller Grendel is as fast with jumpjets and both have the same weapon capacity.

Viper? The speed of the Ice Ferret and the weapons of the Mist Lynx... at least you have 8 jump jets for some decent flying...but again the Grendel is the better choice for those voters.

Linebacker.... a fat mech that runs its arms through the dirt.... with a huge engine that allows him to keep the pace with a slaughter crow.... to get slaugtered.

Fire moth voters.... admit you are just hoping for the lag shield

Turkina... well yes we need assault that is twice as wide as a DireWolf with 6t of fixed hover jets.... the good at least its weapons must be in the same height as the cockpit.... not enough to look over a small crater but at least the same height.

Yeah, I wish the OP would've included the Coyotl, it'd be a strong mech.

i did not see this thread till now, and just wanted to put in my 2 cents

light: Fire Moth. We need a 20 ton light mech for the clans

medium: coyoltl. I was going to make a thread about including this mech till i saw this. People say that the coyoltl is rare and isnt in production, but heck, the EBJ is also a super rare mech. And I know the coyoltl has 2 variants, but did you ever read the Mauler on Sarna.net? Only the 1R qualifies as a cannonical mech, the other variants are apocryphal, so PGI shouldn have a problem making at least 1 more coyoltl variant.

heres my proof: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Mauler

heavy: dont really care
EDIT: actually, id LOVE a rifleman IIC

assault: all i need is the direwolf Posted Image

Well with Imperious getting Russ to admit that time line is out and uses current tech in game...

Nova Cat now fits.

Prime, A, B, and C all work with in the game...Combine with the Mechs popularity among pilots from previous games it would sell the wave 4 alone pretty well.

This game really needs a Piranha.
