Title says it all. Why have you chosen to fly the Fed Suns banner?

For me, I became a Davion waiting for the old InnerSphere 3028 project to materialize. At first the choice was rather shallow. The faction color was a forest green. But as I learned more about the faction I came to love an appreciate it.

I now choose Fed Suns because they are a (comparatively) fair, just and open society, still embracing the old world (current day) liberal ideals of personal freedom, rights, and democratic process. The Royal family did not have supreme power, and the people still had a voice. Better yet, while allowing freedom, the government was still strong enough to maintain unity and order and stability with strong and efficient military forces, unencumbered by the silliness of the DC honor codes, or the Incompetence of CC, or FWL.

It seemed like the place in the IS that I would most like to live.

granted, I have not maintained my BT lore over the years, so some refreshers are an order Posted Image

You've summed up pretty much why I chose House Davion. A representetive republic hereditary and constitutional monarchy, with a strong and proud military!

I could fight for such a regime and I will!

Check your Six,

The FS is neither representative, nor a Republic. If that's your thing, you should go to the FWL, who have an actual Parliamentary body where officials elected by the people write policy and put it into law. The FS is probably the most true example of an old-school European feudal monarchy in the IS: no representative body and the only material check on the power of the Prince is his vassals rebelling. To be a representative Republic, you need elected delegates making policy, which the Federated Suns got rid of like eight hundred years ago.

@Chuggernaut

FIXED.

Constitutional was the word I keyed on originally and the OP's sentiment. I should have just used that and now I have.

Quite so and that is why I have chosen house Davion! We follow the Sun King Prince and after us, the deluge (hey, it's canon)!

I want to go Davion; I really do. But so do most of the players out there. Thanks to published fiction primarily concerning Davion and/or Wolf's Dragoons, Davion is going to be somewhat overstaffed. Let's face it, Davion is going to be the popular choice.

I'm afraid it's going to be like WoW, where all of the kids go alliance, and all of the capable players go horde. I'm probably going to end up Kurita or Steiner just to avoid overpopulation.

Originaly all the kids went horde in WOW, they switched to alliance after getting their heads handed to them repeatedly, thats when the majority of capable players went horde, but not all.

Kurita is not actually a bad choice the Samurai aspect appeals to a lot of players so will probably be quite a bit of fun between Davion and Kurita...not as humorous as Liao but fun just the same. Steiner? Really? Even we don't want to associate with Steiner and technically they are our allies.

Yeah, it's tough having all this money that the AFFS is currently prostituting itself to us for.

Steiner: Better mechs, better technology, higher standard of living, higher social mobility, cool place to live.

Davion: Constant warfare, fuedal lords, rampant illiteracy, lack of access to basic medical knowledge, de-facto king, the life of the commoner is pain.

Hm, yes, everybody must obviously hate Steiner.

Because I have always been a loyal follower of the Federated Suns banner. When I first read through the books they were the most upright, just and honest of the houses and it has always been a pleasure to serve under them from the construction and fielding of my first LEAD miniatures to the creation of my own table top RCT and supporting regiments I have served. Now that we have this coming it shall be an honor to fly the banner once again.

This was a large part of it. Also it seems that there is a lot less backstabbing then in other houses. Oh and the fact that the leaders actually take responsibility for their actions *cough* katrina steiner *cough*

That's KATHERINE!!!!! and don't you forget it :)
True loyalists prefer not to acknowledge her name change, she doesn't deserve it. The REAL Katrina was a great ally.

Always loved the Fed Suns, even before reading the fiction. Initially all I had to go on were the house and ruler descriptions from the 3rd edition's box set rulebook. Hanse is the craftiest f---er to ever fight for good in the universe.

I'd love to see, say, a chess match pitting him against Zanatos from Gargoyles, but I digress.

I hope we see some classic Fed Suns mechs soon. Blackjack, Dervish, hell, even Jagers would be nice. And I know Cent and H-back are already in, but what about the Enforcer? Its almost as staple to the Feds as Dragons and Panthers are to Kurita. It kinda needs to be here if only for that, and it would give the game a jumper in the 50 ton weight group.

This. And, might I add, one other reason: House Davion LOVES Autocannons. They have their priorities straight.

The last time that happened was the 4th War in 3028. The timeline has progressed to the 3140s. Considering that Davion hasn't come out on top for more than a century you may be wrong.

I got bad news for ya man. We didnt keep him hostage, we gave him access to the best possible medical care in exchange for what we needed to save billions of lives from the clan threat. And the idea Hanse had about the doppleganger? Thats what Maximillian Liao tried to do to Hanse himself years prior, which pissed Hanse off to the point that he conquered the cappies in the 4th war. So dont be a hypcrite, now. (rp speaking, of course) :D

Deflections and evasions don't detract from the main point; nobody's perfect, and nobody is the "good guy" when it comes to politicians. Popular, yes. Good? Well... popular, anyhow. And the writers' favorites, no doubt.

Davions have the biggest toolbox, treat their mercs right (minus the scuffle on Northwind around 3060), and for a brief shining moment hold an alliance with the LC, creating the biggest and most powerful Successor State.
