Thanks for taking the time to read my idea.

Premise: An event to celebrate the individual qualities of the different Mech chassis weight classes. There are general goals to be achieved with all classes, and then there are goals tailored to each one specifically.
Spoiler

Duration: 5 pushes over 1 week (168 hrs) (5th push phase lasts 2 days) plus a recap day.

Participants: Grouped by chassis weight class

Goal: Reach a set number of KMDDs, Killing Blows, and Assists each day, plus a unique set of 3 for each weight class. Following days have harder goals but yield better completion rewards.
Prizes are awarded at the end of the day, and progress in value over five push phases. The fifth push phase (which starts on Day 6) lasts for two days.
Encourage players to send in event clip footage (5-30 seconds, about), giving the best submissions a paint or cockpit item at the end of the event.

Day 1: "Contestants, Start Your Engines..." is an easy warm-up day with nothing too crazy. Regular game play can net most of these, but it will require participation and a few matches each.
Spoiler

Day 2: "And, They're Off!" includes the first increase in both difficulty and rewards, although slight. It's just to get people used to the upward slope and difficulties ahead.

Spoiler

Day 3: "The Heat is On!" takes the challenge to another level, and will be the first point where many pilots will feel the need to focus more on specific weight classes.

Spoiler

Day 4: "Feeding the Fire" further increases the difficulty level, and will be where most new players get cut off from more than one weight class, but veteran players should still be able to handle these challenges. This third push phase also marks the first weight class-specific bonuses.

Spoiler

Day 5: "It's Not Over, Yet...!" keeps the pressure on the pilots to up their performance even further. At this stage, full completion of goals is going to take some serious play. This fourth push phase is notably more difficult than the prior, but the rewards are greater.

Spoiler

Day 6: "Full Throttle!!" is the final push phase in the event. This is where the pilots will be pushed to test their limits in their chosen Mech weight class. This fifth push phase lasts for two intense days. Live streams or endorsed user-streams recommended.
Spoiler

Day 7: "BREAKING POINT!!!" is where the last hope for success lies. It is the final day of mayhem, and hopefully your squad is prepared for it. Live streaming or endorsing prominent community streamers is highly encouraged.

Day 8: "Finally, The Dust Has Settled" concludes the event with an announcement containing a post-event wrap-up giving links to each day's Leader Boards, community clip submission winner and honorable mentions, some words on observed trends in the community to play certain ways, etc. This would be a great chance again for a live stream.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read this. I think this would be equally beneficial for both PGI and the players, as it would stimulate a need to change and adapt rapidly for players (causing a surge in spending) while compensating some of the purchases that were necessary to compete with the increasingly demanding challenges. It starts out light on demand and rewards simple C-Bills and Consumables packs, then C-Bill paint, then the less-expensive of the MC paint, and finally if you can hack it through the entire challenge you are looking at getting a Mech Bay or two and possibly even a Mech for your weight class! Well earned, too.

Definitely, this event will stimulate the economy in a way that's beneficial for both PGI and its player-base, but this event is about more than that. Beyond just a "grind-for-rewards" event, it's also an event designed to be interactive with the battlefields by encouraging each weight class to play their role more fervently and with specific purpose. Lights will rush to points and scout enemy Mechs, and Heavies will try to peel them off of the points. Assault Mechs will move as a unit (as opposed to being the one-true-hero Pilot) and work with their team with Medium Mechs that actually take the time to wait for them and keep target locks, and Heavy Mechs will protect flanks and the rear while trying to single out any gankers to score a Brawler kill, all while preparing to defend any enemy taking fire to score a Savior Kill. Keeping that functionality alive is a big part of why I opted for progressive daily rewards that add up, unlike some other long event challenges that give you a relatively large amount of rewards at the end or individually throughout it (which is also fun!). This will be a little grindy, but in a fun "mix-and-match" way. The more effort and time you put into this and the better your equipment, the better you'll do.

Any thoughts? And I'd like to eventually help with ideas that get an event into action, so if this isn't something you're looking for, are there any tips I could get to help with coming up with events that are more in line with your style?

Great idea... however please not this part (or any of the subsequent versions of this);

"* Defensive Kill: 42 (+1 Mech Bay)"

The reason is that this requires the opponent to be in your base in Assault during the kill. It is quite obvious that getting this requirement will be nearly impossible during an event geared towards this goal due to both teams camping their own base hoping that the enemy will come to them. Maybe make it a defensive kill or base cap. This way you will not force both teams to basecamp to get a point.

good event, but I would remove any requirements tied to a specific game mode.

Certain requirements (Defensive Kill by Heavies) is there to be a direct challenge to their antithetic challengers (Capture by Lights). The idea is that it will cause a Hellish scramble for the initial few hours of the challenge every day while forcing confrontations that people often skip out on :P
Still this was just a thought experiment to get the devs to possibly think about an exhaustive gauntlet challenge that ramps up continuously until it gets everyone whipped up into a frenzy on the edge of their seats while putting their best foot forward, pushing everyone to their performance limits \m/ >_< \m/

Very thoughtful, and with some tweaks it would be a fun event. I wish I could recommend all of the tweaks, but sounds like others have covered that .. ie. prizes tied to game modes.. god forbid something is awarded for conquest. (I almost never see that mode.)
