The only weapon that might be worse than the LRM 20 is the flamer. I used the word "might" on purpose.

LBX?

Lol...

Average support range is roughly 500m by any teammate who out paces their assaults. It's just the absence of any empathy by teammates in PUG that creates this situation.

That said, it doesn't help when slow assaults make poor positioning decisions and or come to dead stops and not keeping up with the pack further exacerbating the situation.

Point being, in one case it's out of hands to control the team. In the other you need to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

An Ebon Jag shot me with a LBX10 at it's "optimal" range the other day! My Locust LOLd, then hit him with 30 pinpoint meds. I'd say you picked a 3rd worst weapon, tied with machineguns.

Yes, it's hilarious when you get shot by one at range (they guy prolly just tagged you for an assist btw). I still put an LBX10 in my FS9-H because I could, it's fun as hell, don't judge me! :)

I'm absolutely going to judge you. It's hard as hell to build a bad Firestarter, but you definitely managed.

good job pugs.
good job.

back to lights, where it doesn't matter if my team is dumb.

Isn't this really about poor team work and not about slow mechs?

It's pretty basic to grasp how to play Skirmish in MWo. This is why it's the most played game mode, idiots can be successful in skirmish.

Yet the "complexity" of forming your mech blob around your slowest mechs is somehow to difficult to grasp?

The problem with slow assaults is team-mates that fail to realize that no, the other 'Mechs in the line can't keep up and fail to properly deathball.

And then wonder why they're down most of a lance before they even see an enemy as the other side proceeds to find them and kill them so quickly that all the firepower and armor in the world won't matter, because 8:2 is gonna end up with the two being mulched as they're focused and dropped.

It's one of the cardinal newbie errors- being so eager to fight that you Leroy and strand your whales a mile behind and lying wrecked on the ground, followed by THEIR protected assaults turning your now inferior force into giant metal donut-shaped corpses.

The Dire Wolf is the victim of the same things killing the Highlander and the Victor. At one time, it WAS OP. But that was a long time ago... but those mechs never get revisited or buffed. Once OP, forever OP, no matter how much the game changes.
Yup. See also: The Cataphract 3D. Once king of the poptarts, even though the destruction of poptarting left it a subpar heavy, its been ignored in every successive quirking and remains terrible to this day. Even after countless new Heavies have been added to the game that are far superior to what it ever was.

All because it was, once upon a time, the "meta" Heavy. Mostly for lack of other options.

It's his fault. Not just because he chose an absurdly slow mech, but because he chose an absurdly slow mech AND didn't keep up. He could have. His team relied on his passing up early firing opportunity to do everything possible to get into position but he failed to do so.

Deliberately choose a very slow mech, and its on you to do what is necessary to not be a liability to your team.

So often, players take this self absorbed view that the other players on their PUG team should be supporting them, never that they should be supporting their teammates. Not that people shouldn't support eah other, bit you need to understand in the solo queue, you must bebself sufficient because as much as you want people to do things for you, they want you to do things for them, and they need to do things for yet other people.

Your teammates don't exist to be your lackies. They haven't signed on to babysit someone who could get where he needs to be if he was less bad. Some might (and that's really great!) But you cannot expect it.

In the solo queue, you must be self sufficient, or you're a liability to your team.

Completely agree. Love my 5 AC/5 MX 90. With range modifier and cool down modifier I can put a fairly constant 25 points into mechs at quite a range.

"Just in case" suggestion: if you're in an Assault, don't Alt+Tab and check your Facebook while waiting. As the match start counts down your finger should be on the W key.

PGI needs to slow down all the fast heavies too, because theyre mostly whats caused the whole problem.

Fast heavies are the reason assaults are slow? Posted Image
Anyway, I need that speed to get to the assaults to escort them.
