I never really was a fan of ppcs in MWO although I tried a Warhawk with quad ppc in the past. Yesterday I bought some Blackjacks and now the BJ-3 is really really fun with 2xPPC and 4x Medium. I just can't get enough of shooting lightnings right now.

What is your favorite PPC mech?

Personally, the BNC-3M six PPC monstrosity. Chain fired for maximum effect on morale, whilest three dual ppc shots spread damage less, the sheer volume of fire from cool to overheating on chainfire is awesome to behold.

I for one really like my WHM-6R for this job.
Drove this loadout yesterday the first time and it was fun as hell.

PNT-10K, ADR-Prime, and VND-1AA. I don't think I have any other PPC builds (funny how it worked out to exactly one 'Mech with each type of PPC; that wasn't intentional), but those three are always fun to play.

Awesome 8Q. Yes, it's an Awesome, so it comes with no ballistics options, poor hitboxes, and a relatively low engine cap, but the 8Q is effective with 3 or 4 PPC's because of very nice quirks.

Orion ON1-V with dual PPCs. When I put them on I kind of expected them to suck, but it's actually pretty nasty for the enemy.

Other than that, the Thunderbolt.

Just about any mech with a 40% or better PPC Velocity quirk is going to fill this role well. If that's coupled with a quirk for energy/PPC heat, then you have a potential PPC beast on your hands. The challenge is aiming and hitting at that point.

P.S. energy/PPC cooldown quirks are nice too.

VND-1AA, sweet PPC buffs and not many energy hard-points makes for a natural PPC machine.

This thread makes me want to try 6 PPCs on a WHM-6R just to see how bad the ghost heat would be. ;D

The cicada 3m used to do dual ERPPC's really well, had some truely epic matches on alpine.

The Cicada-C3.

While... Yeah, it is not a super amazing mech, per say, and only has one Energy slot, The ER-PPC Quirks on this variant turns a PPC Cannon into an absolute monster.

I don't have exact values, But it roughly has:
25% Energy Heat reduction
25% Er-PPC Velocity
25% ER-PPC Range
25% ER-PPC Cooldown
25% ER-PPC Heat reduction.

You can do serious damage sneaking up on someone (Sneak up is relative, at 1000+ Meters away.) And getting three to four shots off before they can react. Most heavies and assaults need to stack three of them to achieve the same result this Cicada can do with one.

With a heat efficiency of 1.63 with double (Internal Engine only) Heatsinks. Heat is not a problem.

Throw an XL on it, and you can stack 4 machine guns, or an AC5/ AC2 And really dish the pain with its Ballistic speed and range quirks.

OP, I am going to be a literalist and assume you want PPC builds and not ERPPC.

My favorite and best PPC build is my BL-7-KNT. 2PPCs, 1 in the high right torso and the other in the high (alas it is a lot lower) left torso. Rest of hardpoints are 7 small pulse lasers. Running a standard 300 plus beagle and AMS. Just a great all around performer for me, despite it being my slowest and hottest knight.

All the rest of my ppc using mechs run ER-PPCs. I like the ERPPCs as the builds are always simple and I don't have to bother with short range weapons...just have LOTS of dhs.

Wish I could say that. My warhammers fail me to bring any success or joy with PPC/ERPPCs :(
But I must say my Marauder with 2PPC, 2ML and a Gauss is pretty fun :)

If you're willing to go with a single ERPPC, the CDA-3C is a fun way to run it. You can go 148 km/h with a max XL engine while running 4xMG for backup. The ERPPC is hyper quirked at -50% heat, -20% cooldown and +50% velocity. It's a fun flanker/scout/sniper mech.

The new dynamic geometry places the ERPPC onto the roof of the chassis, making it a really good ridge-peeker:

If you're into running 1 ERPPC and firing it at a stupid quick rate, then might I recommend the Panther 10K? Small with lots of jumpjets and some great ERPPC quirks makes it an excellent walking PPC.

Aside from the Panther, my top PPC mechs are the Vindicator 1AA and the Masakari Prime. The Vindicator is a nice, quick jump sniper. As for the Masakari, I pretty much run it stock swapping out the LRM for more heat sinks. Group each arm to groups 1 & 2 and set them on chain fire. Some would call it a sub-optimal way to run a Masakari, I call it the only way to run a Masakari.
