My first taste of internet access happened at the exact same time that I got into Battletech in the mid-90s. That Internet access just happened to be... AOL. And one of the first things I found while on AOL was a Battletech chatroom where people went to talk for hours, every now and then spawning private chatrooms for Internet-based games. We rolled dice in the chat, shouted out hexes and facings for moves, the whole shebang - this was way before MegaMek or any sort of online mediator.
Man. I haven't thought about that in years. Anyone here play in those chatrooms way back when?
