It's supposed to resemble a Marauder. It was the last design from that series. The other mechs were: Marauder, Maelstrom, and Dragon Fire.

For a moment there, I thought this was some new version of the Direstar.

Looks interesting. I can only see an upscaled EBJ though...

This is the only IS Assault BattleMech I have ever advocated for, and that's because it's both powerful and pretty!

Probably a Day One purchase for me if it comes out, and I'm not an Assault pilot.

I'd rather have Cyclops.

Why? Nostalgia? The Nightstar is better by far. The Cyclops probably won't even get ECM.

Wouldn't get your hopes up guys, only 3 variants, one of which has more than one count of unavailable tech. I don't see them releasing this one over the Cyclops, regardless of in game performance expectations.

Hardpoint-wise, they are not particularly gifted, with two of them being identical:

Because of ghetto ISTech, you can only put a single slot energy weapon on each arm if you carry a Gauss there.

The most interesting variant is the 9SS which sadly uses FutureTech (may mean a no go).

EDIT: fixed the chart

Would have been perfect except for the fact that we don't have UAC20 and LB20X for Inner Sphere yet. And I don't think PGI will be adding it any time soon. And if they don't see 3 variants with current tech, they're not as likely to do it. They could invent a 4th variant like they did with the SHC, but I doubt they'd invent 2 of 4 variants.

tell that to the Enforcer, Mauler etc.

of which neither the Maelstrom nor Dragonsfire remotely look like a MAD.....

I doubt anyone is realyl expecting it since the cyclops probably gets announced this week sometime from existing art. There is still potential for 2 more IS Mechs this year though, so there's that.

Eh, since I don't gauss, I'd be AC10s which get the same issue, sadly. And UAC5s and ERLL/PPC/ERPPC just doesn't sound as fun.

I'm unlikely to go for it even if added because I realyl don't have the patience for Assaults. I just drew it because Arisen asked.

Uninflated hard points do not concern me Admiral, i want that mech.

As we've discussed before, light inflation would fix many of the issues or open things up to builds not centered on gauss rifles.

Yes, it (they) needs HP inflation badly to be viable.

Maelstrom and Dragon Fire next then if we want moar Marauder styles. I would love to see the Maelstrom especially, but if Power Draw gets implimented correctly, it would be pretty bad for the loadouts it would get. Plus there really isn't any variants. Just different loadouts in same locations.

Well it is a 95t assault, like other assaults it'd get inflation for sure.

The Hero Stalker Misery was named after the famous battle..

What would the Hero version of the NightStar be called? New Avalon?

Anti-Dragon Slayer

Seriously though, I've always been into dual gauss assaults for some reason so I'm all for adding the Nightstar. It looks like it would be loads of fun to drive even though I'm a medium pilot. Like somebody posted earlier, give me this, the Pillager, Devastator, and Hammerhands and I'm set. No reason to add anything else for me.

There are two lore based hero Nightstars. Either Shelly Brubaker of Wolf's Dragoons or Sandoval, the son of Robinson's duke.

Of course, the hero could also be tied to ComStar as currently they're the ones with Nightstars.

The Nightstar was built using the same basic design elements as the Marauder, so the similar appearance is understandable. I'll take it, along with the Annihilator, the Devastator, and the Hammerhands. They can call it the 'Big Bore Bundle'.

How dare you forget about the Thunder Hawk! 3xGauss as default config! ;)

It seems to have shades of MW4 Mektek's Tenchie mixed in. That was a fun mech.
