My typical engagement range is around 300m, I usually open up with each AC/20s (individually) then all three SRM6s, rinse and repeat. I use the medium lasers only when the target is out of the SRM's range or when I'm targeting lights.

Thoughts to improve this build?

Yup, I see your logic and mostly agree with it. If I knew I was going on a cold map I would probably run it close to as is.

In my experience, when things get fast and furious those AC 20s bring the heat, especially if you trigger the ghost heat. Also, trying to hit a good light mech pilot with a solid full burn from a medium laser isn't easy. And even if you do manage it, they will stay on you. However you hit them once or twice with 18 SRMs most of them move on down the road.
Basically my thoughts are more of the good, and less of the fill in. FWIW

Strongly agree. I had basically made this same modification to the original Smurfy build (325 engine and all) before reading this post.

Thx Professor :)

Well, I'm a firm believer in keeping builds user friendly, with weapon synergy and maximum cooling while trying to maintain a good alpha strike. One oddity of MWO that I still can't get over is how hot ppl build their mechs. In MW3 or MW4, 98% of builds I see would have been laughed off the battle field ;) But those we the days where cover was scarce, re-spawns, and field bases. And one other huge factor, we knew the flipping map BEFORE we selected a mech. I literally had builds with one more heat sink than another depending on the map. Now, its almost like you are forced to run hot builds in PUGs just hoping for a cold map, so you don't get out traded at the peeking game.

Yikes, I lost focus there. Anyway back to the build, another reason to lose the lasers is proper target leading. Even good pilots (in my experience) can't consistently shift between lasers and ballistics seamlessly at range. So keeping the AC20 paired with the SRM6s will keep the pilot focused in on leading all the time. I do a lot of "observing" in MWO, and I can't even say how many times someone has a "good" build with ACs and lasers that forgets to lead the ACs and only hits with the lasers. arrrg.

Or possibly drop the SRM6s to SRM4s. You get about the same damage from an SRM 4 as a 6 without artemis. You would free up a bit of weight for more ammo, however. Art really closes up those SRM 6s, however, so if you are keeping those I'd add art.

My crabs typically have ERLL to account for the previously mentioned MWO Dropship Roulette. Go with AC40 and SRM 18 and find that you keep getting Polar. It also helps somewhat with the issue mentioned with remembering to lead the ACs. ERLL is only used at long range, AC20s at short. It makes it far easier for me to remember the lead-even in the emergency situation in which I fire ERLLs at close range. Then I'm close enough to not have to worry about where the lasers will hit-the target is probably mostly filling my screen.

AC 20 for range and two AC 20 for Minimum range chasers:
KGC-000B(C)

Lights? Don't deal with Lights in a assault - and PPCs or AC20 are ok to kill Lights at ranges above 150m

This might be a dumb build.

But I would definitely try it a few times just to see what happens. Posted Image

Any King Crab with an XL is bad IMHO.
