AND, how the heck do I get rid of the trial mech in my bay and move to the one I own?

TAG must be held on target and fired constantly. MWO's implementation of TAG is a glorified laser pointer that makes missile locks faster and flight paths tighter... so long as it's on the target.

All trial mechs are available to everyone to use no matter how many mechs you own, or how many (if any) mech bays you might have free.

Trial mechs do not consume mech bays; they are just extra machines you can use. If you do not want to see them in your list, there are filter options at the top.

Ensure that Owned is chosen, and remember that using "Both" is pretty good for both the Clan/IS and the Owned/Trial until you get plenty of mechs.

Is there a list of them?
And change you change the uses of OmniPods?

Every mech can use NARCs so long as they have a Missile hardpoint (believe the color is green, hover over a mech and look at hardpoint numbers. The green "1" through whatever).
Omnipods can be changed in the Mechlab under "Omnipods."
Only Clan mechs can use Clan weapons, and currently only Clans have Omnimechs.
An Omnimech is any Clan mech that doesn't have "IIC" on it currently or the name Kodiak.
Choose "Omnipods," then which limb you want to replace. You will notice there's often identical omnipods with identical hardpoints -- check the quirks on each. They aren't the same.
You can use this to help you find out which mechs are which.

Yes, it's automatic. The zoom levels will be slightly zoomed in more than without. It's not a huge difference for the smaller targeting computers. Check the zoom indicator on the Hud in I think the lower left corner of the yellow or blue box that takes up 2/3 of the screen.

go to the faction play tab, there are 10 factions
Clan factions are
Clan Wolf, Clan Jade Falcon, Clan Ghost Bear, Clan Smok Jaguar
Inner Sphere factions are
House Kurita, House Davion, House Liao, House Marek, House Steiner, The Free Rasslehague Republic
please excuse any misspellings
when it comes to your decision the biggest factor is likely to be the Mechs you own, if you take a contract with one of the Clans you cannot use Inner Sphere Mechs in faction play, and if you take a contract with an IS faction you cannot use Clan Mechs in faction play, but all MEchs remain usable for quick play.
in the spoilers are a list of Mechs by faction
Clan Mechs (cannot be used by the Inner Sphere factions in faction play)
Inner Sphere Mechs (cannot be used by the Clan factions in faction play)

Thanks, I only own a Stormcrow so Clan it is.. I'm short on time so when I get home I will join etc. But I DO have to be in a faction to play right?

Strange these were merged before.
There was a tournament. Not a good idea; the "alpha meta gears of war hide and seek" stuff isn't fun in MWO because we can't rush an enemy and chainsaw 'em... (Sucks too, Battletech has mech chainsaws).
There is this. Appears no opt in is recorded; just meet the conditions for a match to net rewards and click 'em on that page.
Edit: That's for the event.
See Rogue's post for joining a side on faction warfare.

I'm going to look for the zoom indicator . I'm just getting where I can drive well enough that I can read my info. So you saying yes, use "Z" for zoom or it does it by itself? I have poor eyesight so targeting computers are a help.
