I love flamers now. Catching an enemy mech off guard with them and laugh as they overheat... But I've never seen something put a target over your head like a Flamer. It's like everyone can't help but shoot at you when they see it

I thought that the whole flamer re-work was a complete and utter idiocy from the very start.

All they had to bloody do, is to up the damage a lil bit and make the heat generation into a constant heat/sec instead of the whole exponential growth nonsense.
Also, the visual change is the ******* worst. They look so awful now! Like... WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE FLASHLIGHTS?!

They are a legitimate threat, and no longer a joke that can be disregarded/ out DPS'd without regard outright.

So yeah. If the firestarter with 4 Flamers and 4 ML makes me worried about dogfighting him, they're in a good place.

Yes. They have their niche, the acetylene torch effect is nifty, and apparently they're part of many tier 1 brawling mechs according to MetaMechs. That last fact alone is enough for many players to use them in their new role.

The worst part is, the visual is TECHNICALLY canonical because Flamers are closer to over glorified Plasma Torches than they are a true flamethrower.

Has anyone tried 15 flamers on a direwolf before?

Or would that be a few too many?

They're alright for what they do.

Laughably, they still have the increased Crit multiplier (for the potential of 0.11 Crit damage, instead of 0.1)
They've allowed me to farm some headshots in those incredibly rare cases where you can find a separated target who has poor heat management skills and enough weapons to overheat himself quickly.

I did a HBR with all E points and every slot filled with Flamers and DHS. Was underwhelming.

I tried 12 on a Nova the day the rework went live. It was less effective than I'd hoped...

Not yet perfected, but they are at least a threat now. You can no longer just ignore a Flamer mech without consequence. They aren't the worst weapon in the game anymore.

I just hate things like the exponential heat and the neutered visual FX.

I used flamers more when they looked like flamers and caused as much heat as flashlights than now when they cause as much heat as flamers but look like flashlights.

So no, I don't like them. Looking forward to another 3 years of waiting for an update. Maybe I'll use flamers in 2019.

I like them now, actually powerful in brawls.

I actually like the heatscaling of them too, as good as they are now they would be kinda broken if you could just boat them and keep tapping away at neutral heat.

What I don't like is that they made them invisible, what's wrong with being able to blind mechs? I thought the blinding was a cool tactic, why take that away?

I used some pretty hot builds in scouting lately. Like 6xERSL Jenner IIC, etc.

My reaction when those Griffin's flame me: "Aha, nice, I don't care."

I'm one of the ones that like the new visuals, I thought the old style was too much "vietnam flamethrower".

They aren't super OP, but they are a pain, which is a bit better.

Now I want inferno SRMs.

The mechanical effect is decent. The visual effect is trash.
