Strictly for the purposes of this Tournament, the expectations for Team and Player Conduct apply not only within the scope of all official PGI offerings such as the forums, in-game communications, or Support avenues, but additionally extend to your conduct or communications through 3rd party platforms or services. This extension of the Tournament Conduct Rules to include 3rd party platforms and services is solely intended to prevent harassment, intimidation, or otherwise unsportsmanlike conduct toward or in reference to other participants through any such services where discussions or coverage regarding the Tournament may be taking place. Whatever action is taken by PGI services to such behavior will be approached with extreme consideration and attention. Below are some examples under which ones actions through a 3rd party platform or service could result in moderation actions toward their Tournament status or that of their whole Team, or the status of their MWO account(s).

So, PGI will stalk us across the Internet once again to make sure that we're potentially not talking ****, again? Not as if people got banned for things they said about this game on the Star Citizen forums, or anything.

Thoughts?

That's standard for eSport tournaments.

Old incident, does not really matter since that was a once off thing.

Ironically, Star Citizen was accused of doing the same thing to one of their players.

Yeah, it's an old fiasco where some extremely dissatisfied players would post acrimonious "feedback" to anything PGI changed, talked about, or created. The criticism was so viciously hostile that it started to get to some of the devs, and animosity spiraled out of control until one of the PGI guys who was at the center of interfacing with them overstepped himself and engaged in some... "questionable..." decisions.

All of this happened years ago, and if memory serves the offending PGI staffer doesn't even work for PGI any more - but here it is, being brought up again even though it doesn't apply, because the poster is still mad about it. This in itself tells you how fair the accusation is, how reasonable the poster is willing to be, and why things Back in the Day spiraled out of control in the first place. These are the same people who have engaged in so many flame wars against anyone disagreeing with their whine threads on the Star Citizen forums that Star Citizen literally declared the topic of MWO off-limits, and who mounted a deliberate disinformation campaign in a (failed) attempt to sabotage the Steam launch.

In short, that post was a dishonest load of road apples designed to misinform players who haven't been around that long. It's a shameful attempt to make trouble, and you should treat it with exactly the credence it deserves - none whatsoever.

Basically what happened was that a former community manager and internet stalker moderated the MWO boards so heavily with his stooges that any negative feedback was removed from the boards, this discussion moved over to places like the other games forums on star citizen and reddit, he then banned people from the MWO boards based on what he found on these third party sites, uproar ensued culminating in him loosing his post, PGI got shadow banned from reddit forums a bit later on and it was basically another in a line of PR disasters.

But like posters before me have said that was some time ago.

The change to the rules doesn't bode well, and has the same issues as it did when it was done before, but we shall see what happens, it is their big tournament afterall.

my two cents:
I read it more like "be sportsmanlike". And I really don´t think that they would stalk us. But if anything gets reportet to PGI they have it in the rules so they can do something about it.

It is a pretty standard thing... you have that for other sports too. If they misbehave, they have consequences.
