Yeah, OP, unfortunately a downgrade. Though, realistically, you're in completely unsupported territory anyway, so maybe it's time to save some pennies toward a new rig. Whenever you have a budget specified, let us know and we'll outline your best options :)

You have to understand how nVidia labels their model numbers. You have the series number which is like 2XX, 3XX, 4XX... 10XX just came out. The series basically tells you what features are included in the card, not the processing power. Then the second digit denominates the class of the card within the series. This is the important number from a speed standpoint. X30 is the budget version. It will have all the new bells and whistles feature of the new series but close to the same performance as the previous generations budget card. X70 is more of the middle of the road balance between budget and speed. X80/X90 is the "money is no object" card.

You get into some weird territory with the TI's and different manufacturers with overclocking but regardless of who's card you buy you get close to the same thing.

So, comparing a 530 to a 280 is like comparing apples and oranges. Obviously a 230 < 430 but 430 < 280. All this is probably painfully obvious to you now that you know but uhhh.. Yeah, sorry about your loss there.
