TV show on Military History Channel. Thew video below is my favorite episode. Go about 15 min in and theres the story of an amazing fight that goes from normal engagement height to so low in a dry river bed that there are rocks bounding off their planes

I'm not sure if I believe what that pilot said about flying so low rocks were bouncing off his plane. Unless his plane had a bulletproof method of defecting debris away from the engine, some of those rocks would be guaranteed to be sucked into his turbine.

That said - supa cool story bro!

When we imagine the word "rock" we imagine chunks denting and pitting the plane but dust have small debris that could be kicked up and it would be enough to hit the plane. Intruders pilot have been known to come back with tree branch stuck in the intake. I dont suspect a pilot to make a bold faced lie like that and not be called out by other pilots. The nacelle usually have something that eject debris and it's not full proof and i would have to go through my notes and books because it's been a long time. Also, extraordinary luck have been known to happen at the best of time.
