It's actually not as terribad as it looks...

The main feature is 4 ASRM6, which packs a punch.

The LB 20-X is basically a poor man's AC/20, used instead of the UAC/20 to enable snapshotting. Obviously it has to be really close to get most of the pellets to hit, but so do SRMs for that matter...

The Flamers are really good for quickly overheating the enemy mech in brawl range, making the enemy unable to return fire.


While I'm skeptical of it being "Tier 1," I probably wouldn't want to encounter a fresh one in brawl range either.

It's a 100 ton mech which is comprised of 2 Hunch 2Cs mounted next to each other, with the same agility.



I found the 2 to be mediocre (but still better than many mechs out there)

I don't know what your talking about. All the bears I've encountered die faster than any medium I know. If they don't all you need is an one atlas S and you see like 4 of dem bears drop dead quick.

Outside the flamers, that is the best Spirit Bear build, if you know what you're doing......

This. They are literally ALL center torso. They cant tank damage at all.

I've always regarded meta mechs as a starting point towards finding 'viable' builds.

Never thought their ranking was anything more than a person's opinion and not reflective of the whole of the community.

I don't think I have had so much consistent fun in my AS7-S (L) in a long time. A lance or more of 100 ton assaults is so fun in that thing.

I know SRMs can get toasty, and 2 lasers are generally not worth it (aside from shooting UAVs down), the Flamers can help you in a brawl


Of course, you sacrifice any range whatsoever.
Personally, I prefer the UAC20, but I don't have the Spirit Bear, and you can pump both bursts out within the duration of SPLs. It does get hot, though.

Fun mech but not a tank with the CT issue, never had an assault as quickly cored as I've had in one of these, especial considering the rest of the armor is barely scratched.

That CT death may not be fully a design issue. Since it has a clan engine I think mot players, including me, try to just core out the CT as quickly as possible to get it dead.

Only if you aren't getting shot, which isn't often considering you are 100 tons, flamers are nice if you can afford to stare down a mech, same with UACs. Snapshots are your friend on that mech.

The link from MetaMechs is now SPLs instead of flamers. Ninja edit on their part?
