Jenner (35-tons)
Spoiler

Catapult (65-tons)
Spoiler

Cataphract (70-tons)
Spoiler

Atlas (100 tons)
Spoiler

Hunchback (50 tons)
Spoiler

EDIT: 7/19/2012 -

Post your Mech Builds here.

I especially like the Jenner and Cataphract and think both of them will excel at the roles I've designed them for.

I feel as if the Jenner would be a superior scout to the Raven in that it will have nearly all the same equipment and more staying power because of its ability to avoid fire via its speed and jump jets. Not having the NARC is a bummer, but if I can keep TAG on the enemy then I think it will be okay.

The Cataphract is really built to go in and take out rear support elements like Catapults and Trebuchets. With its enhanced speed of 86kph it can avoid most threats, and deal enough damage to take out support elements quickly.

EDIT: There fixed spoiler tags...

Jenner (35-tons) Major Tom
Spoiler

Cataphract (70 tons) and Spider (30 tons) Shadowscythe
Spoiler

Cataphract (70 tons) Kartr

The Cataphract does not need 3 tons of LBX ammo for 1 gun, two should be more than sufficient I think and I would drop the ERPPC down to a regular one personally as I feel the heat curve is too high unless you are a sniper and need that extra little bit of range, and I generally recommend ferro armor to go along with endo IS since the price jump is not that big and since with and LBX and MPLs it seems you will be in regular combat you will want that extra protection.

I like your Atlas.

Only things I really noticed enough to comment on, HBK and Jenner seem fine to me.

I agree with Damascas they all look good except for the 3rd ton of amo on the Cataphract.

responding to your Atlas design:

how can you fit 14 double heatsinks, endo steel and all that equipment onto the crit tables? from what I'm seeing I'd guess you're using too many crit slots and all this won't fit.

That being said, I >really< like the design. I tried to get 2x L. Pulse Lasers to work in my Atlas design but it just made too much of a heat problem, so I ended up sticking with the M. pulse lasers. I was thinking today how devastating it'd be to lay into a light mech with double L. pulse lasers though.. definately seems worth it.

responding to your Jenner design:

seems solid. good looking recon mech with the classic 'Jenner skirmisher' capabilities kept intact.

I made the Atlas to see if you were right Sept and while crits seem fine, 1 crit left, it is 2 tons overweight for me.

I dont think your jenner needs a CASE. if youre torso goes youre XL engine gets cored.
Might save on repair bill though, Im not sure.

2 tons overweight is an easy fix when you have significant ammo stores on board. I like your Atlas design Raeder, you may inspire me to work on my Atlas' design in order to make those L. pulse lasers work!

props to you Damascas for plugging it into the ol' skunkwerks or whatever program you use so Raeder has some numbers.

CASE does not protect an XL, if ammo goes up the area it is in is toast anyway, CASE saves the mech at the cost of the section.

this is a valid point. ammo explosions with CASE still knock out a mech with an XL engine.

*edit*
bah! Damascas, you should pilot a Quickdraw! you beat me to it.

I like making mechs, and to fix the weight you could drop 1 mpl, it cuts into close range damage but those LPLs are great close range anyway.

AH, i missed the XL on both the Cataphract and Jenner, in that case I would tear the XL out of that Cataphract first thing honestly since that is a line mech and XLs are too fragile.

So Raeder, have you thought of what you're gonna name your mechs yet? I wanna know that!

I like the builds but I have a question. What are you using to come up with these builds? I've been dying to get at something that let's me do it

My favorite is skunkworks, it is free and really easy to use.

I went over what I posted here and I'm not overweight. Those are Medium Lasers in the CT, not MPLs.

The Cataphract is supposed to avoid contact with heavier units and use its upgraded speed and jumpjets to do that. It is supposed to skirt around the sides of the battle and engage support units such as Catapults, which wouldn't stand a chance against it.

The XL engine comes standard with the Cataphract CTF-3D, and to remove it would severely limit its firepower for the role my build is supposed to have.

But in a few minutes I'll post a non-XL build. Perhaps meant to support Assault Mechs, I dunno.

I dont like xl engines on my light mechs for this very reason
you will of course gain weight but I HATE xl engines on light mechs.
sorry just my preference but its to easy to take one lucky shot to any torso and boom your done.

Okay, my bad with the Atlas then, I read pulse in there for some reason, probably from seeing pulse right above them.

If you are hunting support units then I would probably want a bit more one shot power to immediately make any fight unfair and hinder their ability to escape, the speed is probably as good as you are going to get but I generally prefer a bit more for that style of combat, I would still say drop the ERPPC down though but I am not an ERPPC fan in the first place so I am biased.

Hunchback HBK-4G (50 tons) I like this design except I would not pack on 3 tons of ac ammo maybe another medium laser or max the armor Its late and i did not check the armor value to see if you maxed it or not. I am an armor ***** so ..... anyways just drop a ton or two of ammo and gain a med laser should be pretty good

XL engine on the Jenner would probably be a bad idea if your going to get up close and personal with it. If your going to use your Cataphract as a sniper and ambusher then its fine, but i wouldnt use an XL on a mech you expect to be in a pro-longed fight with heavy muscle.

I am not sure if he needs to drop that AC5 ammo ton, it is a UAC5 so it chews through ammo fast and if you have 3 tons you have no problem applying it liberally then.
