Before you spam OMG, MWO IS CPU LOCKED NOOB!!!11ONEOMFGBBQDIPPINSAUCE...

Yes, I know MWO is mostly CPU locked, but I'm sure someone is getting performance gains from using it.
So if you have it, how do you like it? What FPS are you getting?

It's not even out yet, is it? I only just heard about it a few days ago with my Nvidia Experience said I needed to update my drivers.

It came out and basically sold out everywhere. I have seen them from private sellers for 1000ish dollars.

Ah, didn't know that it was out. The price tag isn't surprising, seeing as I saw the GTX 970/980 at my local Best Buy a while back going for $700/$800.

I love my GTX 980 TI, think I paid 650 US for it back in July of 2015

Debating it. My GTX 770 is vastly overshadowed by the 1070 and 1080. Same approximate dimensions, but it uses even less power than my older card, and is significantly more powerful. I suppose if No Man's Sky ends up chugging a little, I will pull the trigger for it, but right now I can even run DOOM on Ultra in a playable state, so.... Plus, do I really need more than 100 FPS on some of these MWO maps?

Got a 970 which is good, but can only run MWO at ~50 in Triple rez. Might upgrade when the prices comes way down seeing as I only got the 970 this year

Before you buy one research the heat issues they're having . I would wait for a 3rd party with a better heatsink.

"Heat issues" - with all that near 2GhZ clocks and ridiculous processing power... they throttle at a certain temperature, so I'm obligated to doubt talk of heat issues.

After I upgraded from my older 560Ti to my current 970, I saw very little if any gain in performance gain in MWO... so colour me skeptical we'll see much improvement with even the 1080. With that said, I'll most certainly consider a custom 1080 later down the road for other games, since the thing seems like a monster for 1440p.

Is it only the $100 more expensive limited version with those heat issues? All the same, I'm all for waiting on an EVGA version.

YES! if you want to run VR down the road...

but honestly, is there a good reason not to wait till Q4 or Q1 next year?

That, and VR is so damned expensive right now, anyways. By the time VR drops to a more reasonable price, so will GPUs that can handle it. I have no reason to rush. Like I said, unless No Man's Sky chugs... Otherwise I currently have no real reason to upgrade.

You probably have a potato CPU. 560Ti to 970 is a big jump and even in MWO it would have let you make some decent changes to your graphics settings.

I don't want to wait that long (but the TIs would be coming Q2 or Q3ish)

I'll give it a month for the AIBs and reviews of those to come out, then upgrade this potato

I'm using a EVGA GTX 770 SC right now, will definately be upgrading to a custom EVGA GTX 1070 (SC or FTW edition) in a few weeks. Looking forward to actually utilizing the 144hz refresh of my monitor. I have already re-built my computer 2 months ago, and will be pairing this card up to a i5 6600K that I have humming along at 4.8ghz
