For those of us who didn't get beta, how long before Augusts 7th will there be a downloader for us? If its over 10 GB it might be a few days download.... Will there be a pre-load/download for us ?

this is actually a pretty good question. getting a client out there before the bulk of your intended audience arrives in open beta will help make a lot of HURR DOWNLOAD SPEED complaints go away

Hopefully about a week before the 7th, that way we can get the game and will just have to update it on the 7th.

Thats a good question and a good idea in one.
Not everyone have a high speed connection and can download the game in minutes.
Letting players download the game in advance will make many players happy, and happy players are good customers.

On the 7th it is still a CLOSED Beta... dont forget that. Just early access for Founders. Open Beta will follow later...

Pre-downloads for installers or patches is a great idea, smoothing out the peaks of server load and meaning that more people can receive the file and hop into the game quicker.


Doesn't always work for all games or all developers but when it works I'm always very appreciative.

I hope so.

Although I have a fast line and could download the game in a couple hours, it would not help much if there are so many others trying to do the same that the download speed gets reduced to almost nothing.

And it would be beneficial for those without access to a fast connection to be able to download in advance so they dont lose out on what could be days or participation because of a slow line.

Its a suggestion to make it possible for the founders to be able to download the client a few days before they get into beta 7th Aug.
Dont know if they will do this or not, but hopefully they will.

Btw. the system requirements state, that the game will need about 4 GB of Diskspace, so the Download will be less then 4 GB, which seems pretty little to me.

I do hope they provide a preload link a few days in advance so that people can at least get installed to the pre-founders launch level. Sure you might have to patch on Aug 7 but if you have most of the art already on board it will be a short patch.

They did state that the game requirements were 4gb of disk space. Its big and will take a while. You have been waiting for weeks/months and a few more hours is killing ya? That being said, a preload link to get the majority of the assets installed so your are just patching on Aug 7 would be nice.

That would be perfect! Even if this could lead to an "Error 37" - since a Lot of People will be trying to access the servers at the same time.

One can hope you can DL a few days early to spread out the inevitable slamming of the servers. Of course, they may WANT to test that slamming for when the launch becomes official.
