Heavy Gear Assault is being released real soon...not that big of a deal until you look it more closely:

Single player content...
Group, streaming, community options and a host of other things in game...

Ya, from the get go...also...

I'd probably buy it, but I wont...I hate MekTek to much.

I always thought the roller skates were just...odd.

Still, I gotta admit, give the near absence of "battletech" lore or flavor in this game (why?) if I had time to play an additional/alternative stompy robot game, I'd sure give it a try. The teaser videos sure make it look like a fun game.

We can talk about it all day.

PGI isn't talking about it though.

But I will say this: If anyone ever feels bad about what PGI did to Mechwarrior games (and I don't, before you ask), look at what "Stompy Bot Productions" did with the Heavy Gear franchise. RIP Heavy Gear. You had such a promising future.

Heavy Gear is what we played when we were done with MW2 Mercs and we're waiting for MW3 to come out. Once MW3 came out, we didn't look back.

I expect the new Heavy Gear to fit the same niche. Some people will play it for stomps robot PVE, but once a real battletech title.comes out with PVE, people will abandon it.

HGA looks like poop and I have zero interest in the IP's universe.

I also have no trust or love for MekTek.

..pulling the MW4 master server plug without even the smallest bit of notice to the community..

..not to mention their moderators were the spiritual descendants of the G-stoppo..

Mektek is dead to me. I will have nothing further to do with them.

HGA is a different kind of animal. But if you love Light Mechs in MWO, you're probably going to thrive in HGA.

Having said that, where did the OP see an anouncement that it's coming out soon? As far as I know, it still has a long way to go.

In any case, I sure hope I see you b@sterds and biatches there too! Posted Image

Well at least they were honest about it from the get go ... unlike some developer we all know. Posted Image

This was probably why the rushed balls up of a tourney is happening this year

Well, the game was heavily influenced by the Anime VOTOMS. Which, if you want a non Gundamy Mecha Anime war story done largley right, watch Votoms. Those were a mobility enhancer for the units in it.

Though I'll admit, lore wise, Heavy Gear never really clicked for me.... guess I always hoped for a REAL Votoms RPG/TT game.

This sends up a red flag for me. Kickstarter in 2013, most anticipated game in 2014, and 2015, and 2016... now they've opened up "Early Access" so anyone can give them 40 or 60 bucks.

This says to me that they burned through their kickstarter and have no viable game yet, so they need a fresh cash infusion before they can launch.

Danger, danger, bad management alert!

Person to ask is probably Strum Wealh, I know for a while he was more heavily involved with that game anyhow.

in comparison, yes it is a load deeper and entirely more a mech simulator than any kind of regular fps shooter in ribot skins.

Yeah, those roller skating robots never did sit well with me, but that said I might be checking it out just for the PvE

It's like arguing over which mud puddle is deeper. Neither one is close to being a swimming pool. At least HGA doesn't put on pretenses of depth.

I never could get into Heavy Gear. I tried, and I even played it online a few times but the robits seemed too weak and the weapons didn't have any oomph to them. It just seemed like quake with robot skins with weaker guns. And I liked Quake a lot--I played competitive Quakeworld Team Fortress, but Heavy Gear tried to be something it wasn't and well, it just seemed so bland.

I would like a first person cockpit-based Macross universe simulator, please.

thats the thing, whats the point of making a game with robots/mechs and make them behave like just a regular shooter? It's just a cheap reskin with, no idea what target audience.
hawken suffered form the same issue, make aTF 2 arena shooter in weird styled mechs. Successful it was not.
