It seems we have a clan border now and have fore a while now. CBr1 is going to join Marik for a week to help fight said clans. Whats say we plan to get together this weekend and knock some heads? Just to say we did?

i can join in the evenings. FW has been pretty dead on the Marik front, but i'd love for a revival.

We'll be arriving in Marik space about 7pm Tuesday night. We'd like to carve a route into CJF space to keep that clan border open and make Marik an attractive merc destination. All my guys enjoy our Marim trips so this border was the perfect reason to make a return trip. :)

Sunday... maybe? If everything works out, I should be available then and might even force myself to do some CWs for the glory of Amn Marik...

Here's hoping to at least 2-3 full 12s and some scout groups for the weekend, all things considered :P

Well let's get the ball rolling in some times. Make it a full weekend event. Then everyone can go back to whatever or if we actually find good matches maybe people will stay.

Either way let's at least drum up some support for Friday evening through Sunday. Pass the word to those who don't frequent the forums and let's hope PGI doesn't screw us with an event.

Scout groups shouldnt be necessary; theres a gentlemens agreement to avoid LT in place and without an event prize from scouting it should be ok. If we can push into clan space a couple planets in, it should make it a solid border for marik to get action. We do clans first tuesday of every month for a week, but we really would like to open this border up so we can dpend the 3 weeks after that in marik again.

I'm toying with the idea of holding a raffle for the "event"

My current thinking is a 3 day event. If you participate in drops over the entire 3 day event, and submit proof you participated in at least 1 drop, I draw a name at random and the winner gets a Cyclops package.

Then for each individual day. If we win a planet in that day I draw another name. So up to 4 packages are winnable if we take planets each day.

Then I got to thinking it would be wise to incentovose Falcon players to show up. Maybe a linebacker package for participation and a 2nd one if they prevent us from taking a single planet.

Then I got to thinking I'm not rich and maybe someone might think it a good idea and be willing to help with the cost and/or donate additional raffle prizes.

I'll throw down 1 pack (standard 20 pack, if they are good enough for me, they are good enouhh for prizes! Lol). Its a good idea, Thomas, just let me know what pack and i'll send you a gift code for the prize.

Well the way I used to handle this for the MGA stuff was I set a prize and then whoever won it could chose that or a prize of equal or lesser value.

If your willing to chip in I'll go ahead and make this a thing. I'll work on an official post tonight and put it up tomorrow.

I'll have the eligibility be for loyalist and Marik aligned mercs. Minimum of 1 match makes you eligible. Doing more matches and winning planets makes more prizes available.

So any mercs out there that want to hop on before Friday there will be extra incentive.

I would like to point out that due to Marik inactivity in FP, many players (me included) will not have as much experience with it. FP needs planning: it requires knowledge of certain tactics, usage of certain builds (after discussion with participants) and coordination during the drop. Not sure that these can be incorporated with the currently active FWLM players, but maybe I am wrong.

Faction play requires the following in order of.importance.

1 you show up
2 you listen to the drop commander
10 you bring mechs you find fun and have success with in QP.

If you can blow mechs up in QP then you can blow them up in FP. The mechs work the same way.

What might work in QP may not work as well in FP due to the coordination of teams. Also it is often that organised groups in FP all drop with the same kind of mech to achieve a certain result (all drop with fast mechs to rush, or all drop in assaults to implement huge firepower, etc). We can try and drop with whatever we find fun but results may not be so good. Just saying.

What is most important in CW is being willing to show up and have fun whilst following the DC. This game isnt rocket science, if the DC calls a push and you sit back 'supporting' then people get irritated and stop playing which makes it harder for you to get a team to keep playing. I don't care if you are in a lurm boat, if push is called, you push and take the lumps with everyone else. Hell, I'm a firm believer that Lurm boats should push in first and take the first damage so they can rotate out to support the unscathed brawlers.

More experienced teams take specialised Mechs for specialised jobs, but turning up is the first step.

Coordinated teams drop in QP as well. Why is it only when it comes to FP that it is magically a problem?

Yes coordinated teams exist. They very I. Their skill level. You have the really good teams that practice 100s of hours a week And run like a well oiled machine. No you are probably not going to beat that unless you commit yourself in a similar fashion. The good news is that most are not tournament level teams and even the ones that are are not unbeatable.

The important thing is you show up. Those who never try a will never succeed
The next important thing is to listen to the drop commander. Exactly how do.you thing those teams are doing what they do?
The least important but still important thing is to bring mechs that work and you enjoy playing. You aren't stupid. You play matches and know what works for you.

No one is expecting you to be a well oiled machine your first time out. No one is expecting perfection in your mechs. Play a few matches and you will figure out rather quickly what works and doesn't work. As a baseline start with mechs you enjoy and that work in QP. Not gimmicky mechs. Not joke mechs. The ones you trust to work. 9 times out of 10 that will serve you well in FP. The other 1 out of 10 means you brought a missile boat.

I didn't disagree with the first 2 points (showing up and follow the DC) so they didn't need to be repeated. I just made a point regarding the lack of pre-planning and possible experience. If you think we can do it, I am willing to try.

I'll be down to drop this weekend. My authorized drop times are typically in the evenings. Although we ghost dropped last night, it was still a good time...

Definitely made the right choice when picking loyalties.
