It would be nice to have one buyable decal slot where you could upload own artwork. As ground rules I would propose the following:

- artwork has to be .png with alpha channel for transparency.

- artwork should not be bigger than "X" MB and not more than "Y" x "Z" pixels in size.

- the individual decal slot should be considerably pricey since it should not canibalize the existing decals.

- the decal would be stored locally within the players folder. You would always keep that slot, but you would have to reinsert the artwork after reinstalling or if you want to play on a second PC.

- PGI could make an event / poll on the most beautiful artwork and even make regular decals from it with the winning design.

All in all it would allow to show more individualism without gnawing on the decal sale model. It could motivate the players to invest themselves a little more since they would now be able to insert themselves into the game. Some of us that have individual team signs could put those on their Mechs without having to wait until PGI might bring them later.

On the one hand, I think it'd be kind of sweet, and I'd like to have a ton of slots so that I could have all the necessary artwork to put regimental crests on all my mechs.

But the thing about online games, especially free-to-play ones, is that people are really crappy. It's just begging to have TOS-breaking stuff like pornography stuck in there.

As it is, the current options for the decals are already being abused by players to make genitalia and swastikas on their mechs.

I want to believe that we're a good bunch of Battletech loving fans, but IGP/PGI targeted the e-sports community, instead with all their doritos, mountain dew, shreks and airhorns. I stopped having faith in the community the minute the game went open beta, honestly.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS IDEA

I would put a scary bleeding eye skull, like some raider/pirate insignia, with the rasalhague serphant imbued like coming out the mouth or eye of the skull, so my guy could be a reformed pirate turned FRR loyalist.

What would make it better would be being able to put text on your mech as well, my mech would have:
Superfunkicalifragisexy
Like the comstar baby

I like the idea as well, but I really think that a player level dev tool for uploading and submitting them would go along way. With such a tool PGI could avoid having to personally look at each submission to see if it even conforms to required standards.
