Any stats on whether an ultrabook can even run higher end games?

I haven't looked at the specs on too many ultrabook class computers, but basically they are just ultra light and compact laptops. I'd assume they could run games, but based on the specs of the systems, just like any other system. I also assume you'd need to watch for the power saving features downgrading performance and disable them and being that they are a relatively new class of system you'd want to check them for heat issues.

What do you mean?

Several brands disable the ability to download Catalyst packages from AMD and install them, and set up the system so that you have to obtain the drivers from them, drivers that are rarely updated. This is the case with switchable graphics anyways until Windows 8, but outside of that, it's a lousy limitation to be bound by.

No. Don't even expect the game to run at minimum settings.

I have 3720QM + Nvidia GT650M, and my average FPS is around 40, when no one is around. In a battle, it can range from 10FPS to 30FPS.

Do yourself a favor: go for a standard gaming notebook (GTX 660 or above).

I suggest getting a $300-$450 laptop and use it only for school work. put the extra money you don't spend on the laptop and sink it into your desktop.

Otherwise, you really should spend minimum $1,000 for a laptop if you absolutely HAVE TO game on it.
