Greetings fellow Mechwarriors,

Cyclops cockpit reminds me of a giant bullseye, and since I'm 3 headshots away from completing the first achievement, I've decided to try to headshot as many Cyclops as I can during their initial few days, when their numbers will be high and unmastered.

So I ask you: What is the best way in your opinion?
2XGauss, 3X(ER)PPC, 3XLPL, Flamers+Small/Med pulse or some other way?

Your feedback will be kindly appreciated.

Regards

Dual Gauss. It's able to get a one-shot kill on a fully armored cockpit a fairly large percentage of the time, and will do it every time if they have stripped their cockpit or have taken 3 or more damage. Fast projectile speed, PPFLD, no bullet drop.

This is where PGI screws up the hitboxes and makes the head hitbox a 2px x 2px region on the back of the left arm, while the bullseye gets no hitbox at all. Don't worry. The fix will go in minutes before the C-Bill release.

Seriously, though, dual-Gauss. You might soften the region with lasers, first, just to guarantee your Gauss rounds punch through, but dual-Gauss is the obvious choice for head-hunting.

KDK-3

Will guarantee a head kill if you alpha strike the head 100% of the time, should everything hit.

For one-shot? Yeah - dual gauss, but LPLs are my go to, but not one-shot.

You get them drunk, then have a bunch of sailors stab them in the eye with a sharpened stake!

Just rename your pilot to "Noman" first!

warhammer 6r with 2 gauss, 5 mlas. Fire gauss and mlas at same time. 55 pinpoint allows for slight error. Fast enough cooldown that if you crit it first salvo you can correct with second salvo of mlas.

But I doubt itll be easy to headshot. They will probably make cockpit hitbox small.

Well, it depends on where the hitbox for the cockpit is located. See, in Battletech, that big-eyed head is just a sensor dome. The cockpit is lower, on top of the torso, and is just a narrow window. You could cripple a Cyclops by popping the "head", but the pilot would would merely have targeting issues afterward.

If PGI followed Battletech lore, then you'll see a lot of people griping about popping that Tacticon dish and the Mech not dying.

The actual hitbox is a square plate directly below the "eye".

I've heard talk starting before release, during the event, and right up to now about how the Cyclops cockpit is some kind of Achilles heel, yet I haven't been headshot once. My head took damage one time (cored). That's it.
