Theres a new stink in solo queue and it smells like group queue.

Both to be avoided at all costs.

Special snowflake solo mentality has already ruined QP, Group is going down hill fast, and now the special snowflakes are trying to ruin CW with a special snowflake only mode.

Hate watching another MMO with emphasis on teamwork and the group unit polluted by these snowflakes.

Catering to these snowflakes will ruin MWO like it has so many other games.

Here's a worse example. Why would the matchmaker put all four of these very good players on the same team in a PUG match?!

And noone remotely close to their level of skill on the other team?

Maybe some/many T1's need to be dropped down a notch or two. That tier seems to be more populated than it should be. Posted Image

Secondly the MM sees all T1 players the same.

I'm probably one of them.

Point is, the tiers should be redistributed regularly (I say: patch day) so that there's an equal spread at any time.

To get into Tier 1, someone in Tier 1 should come down to Tier 2.

I'm fine if it's me.

I dunno about it being an equal distribution. I think any skill based rating in a populace should probably mimic how skill in populations is distrubuted. So would be more of a bell curve with much less in T1 and 5 compared to T3

It would be interesting to see the precentage of the active population in the different tiers. My guess is that tier 1 is the most populated one.

Someone lost the pug lottery.

Seriously though the overall quality of solo queue matches is just bad. 12-0, 2-12, doesn't matter. Waste of time and boring as hell.

you do realise that's OP's whole point right?

a matchmaker shouldn't be a lottery. if that's the case, we may as well just ditch everything and go with the old tonnage balancing, completely ignoring player skill

I used to have cancer, until I joined MS, now I am cancer! Thanks Obama.

Lol, synch dropping.

Who would have thought that if 50 T1 players from a unit play the event, you might see a few of them in the same match?

Whenever you have one weight class completely flooded, it's going to wreck havoc on the MM. 7 Assault mechs per side meant a lot of relaxed variables. Since PGI thinks weight can compensate for skill/coordination I wouldn't be surprised to find out that PSR would be relaxed before weight class matching.

It is completely unsurprising that the largest active units in the game might have multiple members in the same match.

Do people want even longer waits for games, or do they want stricter MM? Keep in mind that there will still be just as many steamrolls either way.

Just to balance things out, when you get pulled down to Tier 2, can I get pulled back down to Tier 3? Pretty please?

Actually, we used to have that in the early days. I myself found it fun. But obviously, many were not, especially given the several changes done to the matchmaker since then.

Frankly, I think the MM is just being used as a patsy for something more obvious. Posted Image

No proof will ever be good enough for some people and most likely because they like the scam themselves. We have had open admissions, links to the very TS channels used for that purpose and factions themselves promoting synch dropping.

It does happen and everyone knows. The TS channels are filled more often than not for that purpose. Go look for yourselves.

It certainly messes with MM and its just a scumbag way to play. If there was no advantage to it no one would do it.

It does go against the letter of COC but what is PGI supposed to do. They can't even afford to go after actual cheaters so it will be a cold day in hell when they go after the exploiters. Fact is they kill the game for new players and casuals so what then.
Will it be scumbags complaining of other scumbags when no one is left but them?

That would be even better.

I was just trying to keep things simple.

Because that is The PGI Way™

Given a pool of 24 players, split into 2 teams of 12. The odds of any 3 of them ended up on the same team are about 1 in 4. Or 25%

It doesn't matter which team the first player gets assigned too. (This team now becomes the goal team for the other 2.)

The second player assigned has about a 50% chance to get assigned to the 'goal team' so 1 in 2

The third player also has about a 50% chance to get assigned to the 'goal team' so another 1 in 2.

1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4.

This isn't exact since it doesn't account for slots being 'used up' by having players already assigned, but it's in the ball park.

Now the MM not balancing based on player skill is another matter.

Marik had our 'marik monday madness' yesterday I dont think i ever saw us all sync drop on one side. With about 35ish of us we were always spread out around 6 matches. It did stack higher on one side every so often but nothing to do with units

Even with sync dropping i played two solo matches with zero mariks.

Side note anyone wanting to see how this works is welcome to join over on the house's TS next monday.
