I'm definitely liking the high level of detail here.

You captured its original beautiful sleak design!

As much as I love alex and mwo designs; I think he didnt do the battlemaster justice... But you sir, made a master piece!

sick! that is how it should look in game. I don't kno why MWO doesn't have the big dome head.

Great job.

It is modern looking, yet retains all the classic design cues.

Thanks guys,

I was going for an updated classic look so the comments let me know my time wasn't wasted. As far as the lack of the dome cockpit in MWO, I was saddened by this too, but it's likely because it resembles the original copyrighted artwork, or the polys that the dome would eat up, or a bit of both.

Now I have to find time somewhere to UV map this thing and then texture it, don't hold your breath...I am sure it will take forever.

This is unlikely.
The original BLR was Unseen, however that issue was solved a decade ago (for this batch of mechs anyways).

If you look at the re-seen BLR it does retain the domed cockpit. The example that follows was published in 2006.

But OP you go beyond just the dome cockpit. There are some finer details there that really scream BLR, which PGI's version does not.

I suspect ( but cannot prove ) that PGI's BLR model is just the result of artistic license.

Maybe its time for design change-up, redundancy takes over innovation.

It's like a cross between the MWO and classic Battlemaster. Interesting.

It makes me wish our Battlemasters had bubble cockpits even more.

Haha, I actually saw this concept work while I was making mine. I guess you could say my BLR is more like fraken master. I took design elements from several different pieces of work, including Catalysts. The one thing I didn't like with any of the other works was the cockpit, the dome bubble is fun, but to me it was always portrayed as being too fragile, so it inspired me to create my own, the rest of the body followed.

Thanks man, btw your sketches are pretty cool, it was those, and other artwork in these forums that kept me moving forward, it's rare that I ever finish a project, I usually lose enthusiasm, get bored, and just quit.

Good job with the model, I like it, legs and foots seem a little too tall but maybe is only a perspective matter.
Battlemaster is not well rapresented in MWO, lacks of skinny silouette, bubble cockpit and weapons in his hand; I think is the only mech that needs an aesthetic redraw.

Yea, it's actually the skirt / waist, it is too tall. I couldn't find away around making it smaller while maintaining proper mobility around the legs for both walking, running, and climbing. I did a lot of pose work early on so if I ever got there this thing could be animated nicely.

Modeling this thing from the technical readouts I found out how unrealistic those original sketches are. Oh well, I could spend tens of hours tweaking it further, at some point you just have to put it down :)

some of us prefer the taller style to it....

for me this will always represent the proportions I like, and yours doesn't feel too off from that.
