Ok list what qualities you might have or ones you might have seen in the best Mech pilots

in my travels around the IS and I have seen great pilots in all the factions

these guys/gals wreak face

self discipline is one quality I saw in one player

instead of charging for the center of the map he/she just sits at the spawn not moving
then at the end he/she comes alive and starts killing Mechs

not one person complained as we watched because of how good the player was

what would make your list of qualities

Can't tell if OP is sarcastic or not...

But any player who sandbags and waits until the end is among the worst kind of scum in the game.

So you're saying players who pilot a KDK-3 and remain fresh until the end then get 6 kills on cored mechs aren't god-like in their skill?

A well known Atlas pilot has these kind of skills,( no not Sarlic, was always a pleasure to drop with him ) I believe these days he uses those skills in a Kodiak-3

Its just that attacking a bunch of weakened enemies doesn't really show that you're one of the best pilots or anything. Winning against a bunch of non weakened enemies, or defeating enemies while weakened shows that you can actually carry more than your weight.

most players at the start run for the center of the map

it takes a different pilot not to do that
I might not like it but I acknowledge the tactic
and his ability to take on 4 Mechs at the end and kill 3 of them

here is another player that is good

That's basic Executioner gameplay, its the flank king. The difference between what he did and what you described in the OP is that he is actively participating in the match before everyone dies. So hes taking the heat off the rest of the team somewhat by distracting the enemy force and heavily damaging them while his team also attacks. Which is also a better strategy, as it means when you attack you won't be focused as heavily.

The best players bend their strategy to fit the team they are stuck with. If they believe that they are playing with Captain Craptastic and the Blunder Twins, then yes, a good player will just stay at the back and the pawns do their thing. Likewise a good pilot will recognize when they have a willing and possibly able team and then find ways to complement what the team is doing and/or direct the team to do what it needs to do.

So, even though I thought you were being sarcastic I am not going to be and say Flexibility.

Trick 1, put 2 ppcs and a gauss on your mech.
Trick 2, hide like a vaginal wart.
Trick 3, somehow never miss while jump sniping from max range.
There ya go.

Good pilots:

- Intimately familiar with all of the maps
- Intimately familiar with their mech's capabilities and limitations
- Superior situational awareness - always know what's happening around them
- Able to read the flow of battle on the fly...know where to be and when to be there
- Know when to push a fight, and when to withdraw and reposition
- Accept losses as "sh*t happens" and press on

That's okay the Red Baron eventually died.

As will we all.

Also the best light pilots are the ones who don't get shot.

My idea of the best mech pilots in this game are not necessarily attributed to skill. Yeah, some people have superhuman reflexes, sharp vision, and know their stuff. I think to be a good mech pilot does to some extent require someone who knows what they are doing.

This said, I find that the best mech pilots are also people I can stand. They are fun to play with, good to joke around with, and they are lighthearted enough with the game to not take it too seriously. These are the kind of people you want to play with, and also the kind that can bind a team together to score a victory.

Quick reflexes are not a big requirement, as the very nature of the game means you can not snapshot or even track a target without your efforts being slowed by your chassis yaw rates etc.

Go watch competitive arena shooter tourney's as an example of what can be done without the game restricting you.

The kind of pilot you respect is the kind others see as K/D ratio focused cowardly scum who deserve to be legged.

The same kind of pilot who will shutdown in a corner somewhere if things aren't going too well.

what I did was go beyond the knee jerk reaction and look at his actual piloting skills

the guy was obviously good he handled his heat placed his shots

in the church of skill video try jumping up high in an EXE and snipe and see how long you last

I really wanted other peoples thought and opinions on the best Mech pilots
I now regret the first story since it takes away from the original question
