Why does MWO not use 100% GPU and get choppy sometimes? I compared it to Crysis 3 because they are using the same engine and see that Crysis 3 is utilizing the GPU much more effectively while MWO is bouncing all over the place. Check out these screenshots from MSI Afterburner....

yep, got the same specs as you and the framerates at which this game runs is abyssmal for the graphical fidelity this game offers. This game is scrap on the optimization part.

6700k and gtx 1070 here, fps still drops quite a bit at times. Quite annoying.

xplasma it boils down to mwos model and weapon mechanics being way more complex (due to the modular destruction for example) than the basic crysis 3 stuff, so it adds a lot of additional strain to the CPU.

There have been multiple Dev posts about the issue:

Switch it to windowed full screen... that will push your gpu to 100% usage...

McValium - Thank you for the post but as you can see, the CPU is no where near full load so that doesn't really make sense. This is not a CPU bottleneck. There is definitely something wrong if the CPU and GPU aren't near full load.

Mycrus - I have tried it in fullscreen and windowed full screen and I get the same results ;(

The only way to use CPU to full is to have a dual core CPU. Even most technically good games struggle to load 4 core CPU fully, and MWO is far from that. It's even further more so in multiplayer game.

Performance matters right, not some arbitary percents? I would think OP has pretty good performance.

yea. i actually went to buy a new video card and noticed little or no advancement over my 750ti, without going to a full length card, which im pretty sure wont fit in my mini itx cube. i could go with a 950 but its practically the same card. il probibly just wait for the next generation of budget cards. im having a hard time justifying a cpu/mobo/ram upgrade also, seems all intel has managed to do over the last 2 or 3 years is a die shrink. i think moore's law is loosing its oomph. ssds have come down, so im going to get another one. i have 2 in my case already.

that said video cards eat polygons for breakfast. rendering is so stupidly fast these days that you are better off just putting all your money into a cpu and forget the rest. my 4th gen i7 still kicks buttocks.

why optimize the game when you can't monitize that like you can cranking out more 'mechs?

You can thank all the laptop users or potato PC users who cried about performance back in closed beta sowing our fate to be stuck with in unoptimizable Frankenstein engine.

I run MWO with i5-6600K, 16GB, GTX 960 and SSD (e.g. worse CPU+GPU than you) on Windows 7 and experience no choppiness. My GPU load is 100% and CPU cores usually 50% or less, so GPU is bottlenecking the FPS but it stays above the 60 which is the max that my monitor can display. Must be something specific to your system? I've played on both fullscreen and borderless window, without experiencing any performance issues.

Edit: Do you have VSYNC enabled? VSYNC limits the framerate to your monitor refresh rate, which could explain why your neither you GPU or CPU is at 100%.

Yep this is the main reason I also run borderless window. I usually stream while playing and I want to be able to quickly alt+tab to the stream chat on my second monitor and back to game. On full screen it takes too long.

I run MW4 on a I7 3370k with a Nvidia 770. Even off a "slow" 7200rpm HD the game loads, runs, plays, and works with no stuttering at full detail.

Full. Man. All the settings. Just like - all them. 1080p.

Why was this unclear?
