I believe the community wants the move toward more simulation and less arcade.
I would agree with you, but only the community that exists here now. If you took a poll right now, it would show that most folks here, right now, want a simulator. If you took a poll in the open gaming community, I believe the results would be far different. Thats just my opinion, and what is my opinion worth?

I don't know why Red is so adamantly obsessed with how amazing MechAssault was.
Not supposedly. Suffice it to say that if you are only entertained by a single type of game, then it won't matter how good of an action game it is, you would not like it. That's fair, and I can respect that. MA was an extraordinary action game. And it represented the BT universe really well, utilizing the rudimentary functions of a battlemech in a fast paced game very solidly. Say what you like about the canon, and how it treated it. That portion of the game matters zero to me. I only care about the mechanics and how the game works. The game is all about the community of players and getting people together to play a great game. The fictional portion is much less important. I can, however, understand how people who take that part of it all very seriously, got very upset about MS not treating it with more sensitivity.
There are plenty of action arcade titles you can play if MechWarrior's complexity is too deep
You say that as though I am only allowed to enjoy action games. I am not hoping for this game to be MA3. I want a MW sim that is done right. So far, none of the ones I have played were very fulfilling to me. I am hoping this version proves to be the pinnacle of MW sim games.
just because MA was your first exposure to the BattleTech universe.
It wasn't. MW2 was. Did not get much out of that one. Then MW3. Same thing, not too exciting. I don't even really consider those games, video games.

But we DO want MA... just with actual cockpits, realistic weapons, real aiming, more detailed treatment of mech behavior and systems, more realistic damage, mech customization, an accurate and detailed presentation of the universe, and a few other such "minor" things added on
MA was a great fifth or so of a Mechwarrior title; we just don't want to be deprived of the other
4/5 of the game
See, I TOLD
you we were not that far apart. Now you are thinking like a mech pilot, and not a nerdy bookworm.
Nerdy bookworm, in a good way.
