Hi, haven't played MWO in a while (since PH dropped), but I just started back up again today. I just recently upgraded to windows 10 and it seems to have screwed up my resolution for my game. For some reason, it does not give me the option to go over 1360 x 768 in the options menu when I am already using a 1920 x 1080 monitor. I never had this problem when I had windows 7. Any fixes out there?

Have you double checked your drivers? Is this an MWO issue or does it affect all games, or some?

Only happens to mwo. GTA, Dark Souls, etc dont have this problem. When you say double check you mean update them?

Does this problem also show up if you run borderless?

Did you have a user.cfg setup before to perhaps fine tune the graphics?
Check and see if you have one and if it has these settings in it:
r_Width=YOUR WIDTH HERE
r_Height=YOUR HEIGHT HERE

Or as an alternative if that isn't the cause, you could create/modify the user.cfg and add these settings to set the desired resolution.

I did not, I'm gonna try it now and see if it'll work. Where should I drop that config file?

The User.cfg file is in your game directory - [installdrive/folder]\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online

you can also try to delete your shader cache in documents >my games >mwo, or even delete the entire content of the mwo folder (you may lose the weapons configuration). Another option is to run th repair tool from the standalone instaler or run a verification os game files via steam.

If none of those things work, shoot an email to tech support for help.

Once I bought my ultrasound monitor, MWO gave me the 2560x1080 option in game, no tweaking required. What resolution are you running in Windows?

Didn't work. It said all the files validated and I tried to delete the files and reinstall but that was a no go.

Actually I found it, but it dosen't fix the problem. I might actually have to put in a support ticket.

I have no idea about this

I've had mwo run on 3 different graphics cards over the years as well as many windows installs
7 and 10 (starting from early dev releases)

Never had that problem, not once ever

In fact MWO should offer every resolution you're system let's you use under Windows

But if I had to guess the update to windows 10 screwed with something

I bet the traditional fresh install of windows could fix things
Did you reinstall you're drivers after you ran into trouble in MWO (meaning graphics drivers)?
Also it shouldn't be necessary since its an upgrade from 7, but installing DX again might do something

Stange problem

This may happen due to lack of video memory. Unfortunately I don't have an example now - all computers near me at my work support max resolutions in all pixel formats, but I've definitely seen computers, where max resolution isn't supported for some pixel formats. Also, unfortunately, but there are no utilities in Internet, that can do simple thing - give you list of all formats, supported by DXGI. That's why I've made my own. If you need it - provide some reliable file hosting of your choice (so you won't blame me for putting viruses into my programs) and I'll send it to you. You'll need to check, if max resolution is available for B8G8R8A8_UNORM pixel format, that is commonly used by all games. But I'm not sure, if MWO doesn't use some other one, like FLOAT one for example.

P.S. Also. Due to some reasons 60Hz frequency is hardcorded into MWO's DX11 support module. This may be the reason, why DX11 has so poor performance in MWO, lol. Simply cuz if swap chain settings don't match desktop ones - DXGI switches from flipping pages to copying them and this causes severe performance penalty. So, if your desktop uses some other frequency, some resolutions may be unavailable for MWO. Also, 60Hz in this mode may be unavailable on you monitor. Try switching your desktop mode to 60Hz one, try installing monitor drivers (may be it isn't being properly detected?) and try using DX9 instead of DX11 first.

P.P.S. Do you play in Fullscreen mode? If not, try doing it first.

Heres what I see on my end, either this is a problem that has a very simple solution, or needs a really complicated work aroundPosted Image

This is what appears on my screen when I start up the game. For some reason, the config increases my pixel count no problem, aside from the weird placement of images. When I get ingame, it reverts it back to 1320x768

I saw your RAM count. almost 50%. that's probably not it, but it could be.

have you tried running the patch tool?
