...yet I'll be the last to say MWO needs to be like any FPS out there. Either way...

Fast target acquisition and uncanny ability to hold on target should be admired, as it also speaks of an aptitude for battlefield awareness. We have the ability to pay acute attention to the world around as well as notice the flock of birds flying overhead long enough to pop a shot off at them (it's great when you down one, should try it sometime), then getting back to the battle in a split-second's time. We shrug off the fear of multiple enemies shooting for various directions, are able to lay out paths through the cover quickly to limit our own vulnerability. We have the abillity to know when weapons have been recycled milliseconds before the computer sounds off, almost making us look like we're holding the button down. We twitch gamers will most likely be among the best Lights pilots in game (but I love my cat, so hvys for me). All the possible good qualities and abilities that a twitch-gamer can bring to the table, especially to this game, yet all I ever hear people say about them (us) is negative.

For those, especially PGI (and not that they are in the slightest), that want to MWO to grow beyond the typical Battletech niche market, bad-mouthing any genre of gamer is just bad mojo.

I do not think there is that much badmouthing of twitch, it is just that this will not be a twitch game FPS, and so many typical FPS players continue to claim they/we will WTFPWN everyone because of the leet mouse skills.

Everyone can hit a mech, you don't have to be a twitch to do so. ;)

whenever I see someone talking about how terrible and awful and unskilled(!) twitch gamers are, I just think "well that person is bad at twitch games, got beat hard, and got mad about it"

twitch games take skill. it is a DIFFERENT skill than a tactical sim like this takes, but it is still skill.

Wonder how many twitchers will be pissed they can't bunny hop without jump jets and will add them for that purpose and that purpose alone?

Pull!

Twitch vs. uh, non-twitch is really more of a re-hashed mouse vs. stick debate.

We'll see how things go in game.

I truely enjoy the ability to headshot opponents as fast as I can click on them, the thing is I will enjoy MWO for a completely different reason, I am a former Tanker IRL and good Mech games give me that feeling of tremendous firepower again.

I plan on cranking my surround system and sitting on the Sub.... :D

^This!
This game will not determine the winner based on who can pull off the sickes quickscope headshot, but by who is best at keeping track of multiple different things at the same time. (heat, weaponreloadtimes, ammo, range, targetinformation, position of teammates and enemies, situational awareness in general)
Correct me if I'm wrong but that's a bit more than what you have to worry about in twitch-games, in return the combat itself is quite a bit slower. There's simply much more to piloting a battlemech than good reactions, so anyone not used to this kind of combat (twitchgamer or not) will have to spend some time adjusting to it.
Since MW is quite unique in the way it handles combat, I doubt anyone except for MW-vets will have a considerable advantage over anyone else a first...

Our definition of Twitch seems to differ.

In my version I'm thinking I'm the Doctor's little hammer and you're the knee that can't help but just react.......

I think people should get off of the whole "hyphenated gamer" obsession. I am a Gamer I play MMO's and shooters; RPG's and strategy; racing and even puzzle, If you play one of these or all of these it doesn't matter just enjoy being a Gamer.

I would rather not have a game like this be twitch...I know my limits and I know I am not getting any younger. My reflexes are not what they used to be ten or twenty years ago...and I am only 34. So to know that MWO depends on brains and skill over pure reaction time is why I am so interested. Not to mention...us older games tend to have more money then a 16 hoped up on jolt...So if we like it...we will pay.

There will be some quick desicion making, but I doubt on the same speed as one of those CoD/BF games. Maybe you're running a Centurion with an AC/5 and you see coming over the hill a Catapult-C1 and it has it's eyes deadset on you. What will you do? That is one of those tense moments.

At the same time if you have been paying attension to your map...you may have seen it. The sighting and distances are designed for tactics...with the occasional blind encounter is looks like. But also it does not look like you can die in three bullets...a good thing.

Making quick decisions isn't the same as pure reaction...
What would I do in a situation like that? barrage the Cat's position with my AC 5 and whatever I have that could possibly reach it, run for cover, and then close in below it's lrm's minrange where I can start picking it apart. :P
