Simple question, would you want Hollywood to make a Mechwarrior movie that is true to the Battletech Universe?

They would rewrite the story to make it appealing to the stupid people and ruin the franchise so absolutely not.

I am very afraid they would do this, but i would still love to see, say Ridley Scott make it. I think that would be awesome, no love story/political bs just a damn good story and lots of mech killing mech action.

Hmm he did make Prometheus though as some kinda backdrop to Aliens, and that by allot of fans was a big no no.

that is an impossible feat for hollywood. they will mangle the lore, put some horrible sparkly vampire girl in it and charge you 20$ to watch in a dirty, dark theater. just bad form to even mention such an atrocity. while im ranting, because of the cartoon, i dont even want to see an animation done for it.

I think it would make a better tv series like the walking dead.

Season 4 of Mechwarrior: return of the clans.
Can our rogue mercenary unit hope to stem the tide of the ruthless incursion of men and women bred for warfare piloting mechs developed from long lost tech. Stay tuned for the first battle of tukkyaid.

BTech wouldn't translate well to a live action movie.

- Lack of strong side characters. You would litterally have to demolish an existing book and expand the dialog vastly.
- Loooong term events. A jumpship takes a week to recharge so you would need a way to compress events.

What would be good is combining (via flashbacks) the attempted slaughter of the Kell Hound's in kurita space with the rescue of the princess. An expanded movie could cover justin allard and the unification of the fedcom.

Good idea Viper, lets pitch this to HBO, Showtime, TNT, FX, AMC asap.

i posted a link in one of these discussions to the video of that movie.
it's on you tube and i actually watched the whole thing there.

it would be nice if someone was going to make a movie that the people making the film played this game for a bit.

and it may be too late to get such a movie started in time for this idea, but it would be nice if they made it about the arrival of the clans in the inner sphere and had the theme of the movie be based on that event, and then release it at the same time that the clans enter the game.
an event that we know is about a year from now.

lately...my faith in them not ruining anything...is very low..i dont even need to say why i think so...everyone should have a general idea but how hard is it to have giant robots moving slowly and fighting? They've got transformers already so...its all about story...so im not sure really.

A Hollywood movie would either be too dumbed down for mass appeal or too hardcore in an attempt to please the fan base. I think the franchise is better off as an anime or as a HBO production.

I like the idea of a battletech based movie........but not from hollywood. No one needs another lowbrain mainstream action movie!

yea there would have to be allot of senseless violence and gratuitous sex.
something like;

"She really enjoys gunning down running infantry while riding her sybian saddle in her mech".

Absolutely this. They care about the bottom line, not about the integrity of the story and the author's vision. They will take your fandom and tear it down and rebuild it into another Star Wars Episode I, II, and III.
