I find myself holding off from purchasing the Founder's program because I don't plan on going Legendary, and I don't feel that I have sufficient information regarding gameplay to make an educated decision between the Founder mech choices.

I was curious as to how many other players were in the same boat. Have most of you already decided to pull the trigger (or not), or are you also waiting for more info before buying?

Consider this: if you get Veteran founder level you haven't committed to any specific mech (or if you go for Elite right off, you can change the mech choice up until August 7th). Once in the Founder program, you have a good chance of getting a beta invite before the 7th... so you could then try the different mechs and decide which you want to go with :)

On the other hand, if you don't get a Founder pack then you will most likely not get into beta before the 7th, and would lose out on the chance to get a Founders pack at all. That would make me a sad panda :(

Yep, had enough information a month ago and not having any playtime to know I wanted Founders.

This isn't just another game to me as it is for the majority. Some of us are Mechwarrior IP fans and are committed. Looking at the gameplay video was more than enough for us to see what it was like.

All investments carry risk. I purchased an Elite Founders because I have Faith. I do not even have a computer at the moment (mine died :-( ) and I still bought one because, I KNOW, I will be playing at some future point.

Been burned way to many times to spend money on a game with what seems to be permanantly "Pending" beta, combined with the press coverage of a guy jaywalking in Portland. I understand the need for funding on the fire of development, but until I get my hands on the game live, even for a weekend, I'm gonna have to pass. I would also like more detail, not just mech chassies and map names, but support, controls, game types (if there are more than one) - How the persistance of the world will be impacted (if at all) or is it simply World of Tanks with Mechs. So far that's all I've seen, a few battlegrounds, and a mech garage. To spend 30,60,or 120 dollars on a yet unseen product is foolish, and honestly I think the pricing is rediculiously high in relation to what we've been shown. I'm sure it does run fantasticly on $3000 developer LAN machines and servers with less than 300 people on them, but I want to see the game where the metal meets the meat. Until then I will watch with anticipation and hope for the first fantastic Mech game in about 10 years,

I will wait a while longer and survey the table entire, before I dig in.

Pretty much this.

Have to say i am greatly impressed by the roll out for this.
But only caught on it was out there a few days ago :(

Am a long time avid fan of all things BT/MW since way back when.
So to me yes, a Founders pack would be a nice investment. not too bothered which to be honest.

Slight concern reference what has already been riased by Zirator about Euro servers and lag, but like most games F2P or not, these things tend to sort themselves out in the end.
Does Europe and indeed the world outside of the North America have a big enough BT/MW fan base to warrant servers?
Have to say the answer to that is Hell yes. (Devs - Please don't let us languish too long without one)

But like all things good, you have to wait a while and give them time to develop. So for me if the cost is a slightly laggy connection i will just stick with it.

As for why? Twenty plus years ago i found out i could walk around in a hundred tons of 'mech blowing things up. What more could you ever want from life ? :D

This game, and all things BT/MW have been too long in the wilderness.

Catch you all Dirtside

I've guys seen shoveling out more money for pre-orders on games they havn't seen either. Think about them codX guys, just mindlessly pre-ordering the next copey of the same concept. At least I'm supporting something unique and different then a generic copy of the same concept for the god-knows-how often time. That alone makes it money well spent. I'm also big on reviving some of the cool concepts from before gaming got mainstream (with that I mean the rise of the consule).

Then again, if you think it's to big of a risk you can always wait for a monh and join the open beta.

I refuse to put anymore faith into gaming companies, these last 2 years have been beyond terrible. Gaming is becoming more and more big business, which is generally always bad for the consumer.

It's not like the founders package is really all that great to begin with. You get 1-4 or 4 mechs that you feel like you're stuck with since you bought them, and you feel bad for trying out other mechs that you may love since you for some reason paid $60 - $120 for them. The additional money you get, well, while that might be a nice perk and all, I'm sure you'll make enough c-bills to cover any expenses you may have, if not then what's the point?

Just get what you can for free and be done with it, and if you want to throw $20 here and there once in awhile cool, but spending $120 on a pair of golden handcuffs is ridiculous.

If the elite package was available AFTER launch, then I would consider purchasing it since it's the same cost as a standard game (roughly). This would also give me the opportunity to check the game out before actually buying it (which is what I always do).

Seriously, if $30, $60, or $120 is anything more than play money ... don't spend it on this. This isn't for people who want to scrutinize their "purchase".

I'm not trying to be harsh, but that's the reality of it - it's not for you.

I've seen their videos of the game in its current state, I'm a huge BattleTech fan, and I'd just as easily drop $120 picking up a food/bar tab for myself and friends on an average night out.

If the game sucks (which I highly doubt) ... eh, it was worth a shot, no big deal. If it's a decent game not only did I get to help test it and have some input, I just actually *saved* myself money because the founder's packs are really just discounts off what I would have purchased anyway.

I'm betting on the latter, which is exactly what the Founder's packs are - a gamble.

Waiting for more details? Waiting for actual info at all.
What did we see so far? A few mechs, a total of 3 maps ( mostly fast cut jumping from mech to mech so it´s hard to realy see the map ) and a few suggestive remarks by developers about their plans.
And the fighting seen in videos so far seems fluid, sure. But the more complex and team based parts of mech combat like using narc beacons and tag remain to seen.

What I see so far is a lot of plans that sound great. But they are just plans, and I´ve seen quite a few games deviate from the great outlook they once had in development.
The first and last time I preordered a game was Civ V... lesson learned.

It might be true that they deperately need the money to carry on, and it would pain me to see this promising work to fail. But just like I wouln´t rent a flat that i´ve never seen, I won´t spend money on a game that is so far only a bubble to me ( althoug ha beatifull one at that)

I've waited a long time for someone to put out a game like this again. For me, $120 is a small price to pay. I know many folks (like Lin Shai said) would drop that easy on a night out with their mates. For me, it's worth it. That's for me though. There is a history with BT that you just can't get with many other games. Sign me up.

It may have already been said, but the Founders Program is basically MWO's personalized version of Kickstarter. You are investing in the development of the game and in return you get in-game benefits.

Since the game is free-to-play, there is no pre-purchase. Just like the 2nd poster said, you don't 'buy' the founders package, you invest in the game and get some rewards for doing so. :)
