Figured ya'll could benefit from a little BattleTech Lore.

As for you not being SLDF, while the Star League did in fact create and use the classifications they are still used to this day (3049+) to describe the role function and common mech weight types of units throughout the Inner Sphere.

So instead of referring to light to medium mechs, or heavy to assault, you could refer to them as a Light Horse or Dragoon unit instead. Sure, those not familiar with BattleTech Lore will be confused, but when aren't newbs confused?

I appreciate your concern. We have quite a few people who are rather familiar with the lore of Battletech, but the purpose of this group is to be inclusive instead of exclusive (within reason). Shrouding important information with fiddly bits of lore would turn off those who aren't as versed in the source material. By utilizing easily understood (one would hope) terms and concepts, we attempt to bridge the gap between the Battletech "veteran" and "novice".

Best of luck to you.

The boss talks in small words for us who ain't too good with them big words. We don't have to be fancy an' all smart to be able to shoot things with relative skill. Ain't that right, bossman?

In this thread too? Is there some sort of Pony-Rasalhague alliance I should be aware of?

Well... "information" is where the X/O tells us to git when the enemy's a-comin'.

And "appreciate" is... um... well, it's an "ape" what "reciates". Not the sort of thing what I'd bring up in mixed company, mind you, but sometimes we have a use of coarse, direct language in the this man's regiment.

Long story short: Gibberish. All of it.

There is no "Alliance" to speak of...but there are good relations between Skjaldborg and ELPMC members.

So, I know they've said that they don't want customizable logos, for copyright issues or whatever. But I wonder if they couldn't implement a system like EVE has, where once your alliance gets large enough, you can submit a custom logo, they check it to see if its a copyrighted image, and if everything is good to go, that becomes the new logo. It just seems silly to have a 100+ man merc or house unit running around with generic unit decals and logos. Having a minimum personnel count would keep the number of submissions low, and considering the Borg forked over $3000 for founders packages in the first day alone, and well over $4000 as of this morning, I think the costs for any man hours spent making sure our unit decal is original have already been covered. Just a thought.

I like the idea of custom tags as well, but it seems that if the Devs don't want it in then they won't likely incorporate for any sized unit... it is a f2p game afterall, where as ******* off the paying EVE members is a no no

They made mention of them wanting the option "after launch". There's a lot of stuff to get done in the mean time without worrying about inappropriate content and copyright law. We just need to make sure to prod them now and again.

I know I'd have no problem paying a fee for them to review/evaluate our submission.

Also, welcome to all our new members (FicDEP/Anika, Shaft McCavity, AsinineDervish, Araja, Taryys, and Chevilear)! It's been a wild week. We've broken the "Regiment" barrier and are on our way to "Reinforced". We'll be a Brigade before we know it.

I have a feeling that we'll be seeing a quite high number of applicants for a little while yet.... :D
