Looking at the Atlas, one minor detail is wrong. The belt of the Atlas should have the blue color on its right side (from our perspective), since it does not rotate. ;)

Ahh true good catch, that will be fixed at some stage.

You bet, I'm sort of the non official lore master of the Highlanders since I've been reading about them from way back in the 80's. I have 2 PDF's I can give you that are the condensed stories scanned from 2 issues of Battletechnology you may like. I love spreading the stories to the younger generations. I'm surprised at how many never heard of the older stories.

Yeah sure it'd be nice to have a little read of those PDFs, I will probably come up with a couple of back stories for why these Scots decided to stay with the Capellans and hopefully with your knowledge of the Northwind Highlanders can pin it down as feasible.

Here is my Atlas in the colours of Scottish Capellan group Im setting up there is suppose to be one where I replace the blue with a green but the way I set it up means I can't do that and will have to do a complete re paint at some point.

Currently we are called Capellan Commandos but I think being a Scottish unit may call for a re think on that.

An easy way to replace the blue with green is to just take the image as it is, go into, and I'm using gimp here it might be a little different in other programs, go into the "colors" list and click on "Hue and Saturation" then for gimp there's a "select master color to adjust" and select cyan and it works really well. If there's some blue colors you don't want to change you can probably use a layer mask.

Hope that helps :)

I made a new wallpaper based on Ironhawk's atlas.
http://mwomercs.com/...post__p__172269

I've made a few changes and added my own markings and placed it on a suitable background.
I'd like to add some caption to it but I'm not sure what to put.
Thoughts?

Thanks Chris. It would make a great poster I think, but I'm not sure what to put on it.
Maybe something like, come to Northwind where death awaits you...............
I wanted to convey the Atlas as a Banshee or some undead Celtic being coming from the past to kill.

Max, I spent a few minutes attempting to come up with a tag-line, or something good to put on the poster, but I have to admit I'm at a loss. I thought maybe mixing bagpipes and war drums with finding a home to make ancestral... but there's just no good mix, hehe.

Atlas looks great, but I think what is throwing me is the feet and it not feeling "rooted" in the background. I think moving it back and "hiding" the feet in the fog a bit would improve the meshing of the two images. Though, having been there, the scale feels off to me, the Atlas should be way bigger in comparison.

Here is a redo with a special friend in the background. I've added some more fog to help with the feet on the Atlas.
As to scale, I looked it up. The inner circle's stones are 26 feet high. The outer circle's stones are about 10 feet high.
The Atlas is anywhere between 10 - 12 meters tall which is 32 to 39 feet tall. The Atlas is also closer to the camera so to speak so it would look bigger but I think its pretty close. I'm sure some math nerd is going to now pick this apart using all kinds of measurements. LOL
Anyway, I appreciate the feedback. Here is the newer version with an accompanying Banshee.

That helped!

And yes, I am horrible with scale, I thought they were way smaller, but that was... omg, like 12 years ago that I was there. :(

Edit: Hmmm, another thing to try to make the feet "hide" a bit more. take your Eraser, change the opacity to like 25%, go to the Atlas layer, and play around with getting rid of some of the foot pixels.

Need a Knights of Ni Signature Banner :)

Here is a signature based on the standard we are using for the other Highlanders.
I can send you the template file if you want in Photoshop format.
I didn't know what family tartan you might want underneath so I left it blank.
If you want me to change anything, just let me know.

A repaint of an ingame screenshot I used in the Recruitment Poster thread sans text. This is a WIP (just olive drab for now, been playing with the camo).

So if anyone wants to see some of their repaints "in-game", here is the .psd template:

In-game Hunchback psd

edit: typo and just to say that I left the IGN logo in as a photo credit...I can be removed if you wish.

No rifling on the Gauss Rifles? Way to think scientifically. :D

magnet guns dont use rifling, you just twist the magnetic poles as you fire it (spinning electromagnets throwing magnetic slug = spinning slug)

The round doesn't physically touch the barrel either.

I can't tell if it is the McMech, the Duck-O-Tron, or the Mouse-a-pult. Alex did a HORRIBLE job of giving them distinct silhouettes. <_<

How about a little variety in the mech designs guys.

Yea send me the PSD or a PNG file might be better.. in a higher res.. that way I can use it the website, and make a few edits.

As for bottom tartan would be in Shrubbery colors (Brown, Tan and Green..?) :)

If any of you Photshop Gurus would like to tackle something new, here is a commissioned pic I had done of one of my favorite Old School Battlemechs. Its called a BattleAx. 70 tons, 2 PPCs, 2 LRM5's 1 SRM6, 4, 6, 4

It was one of my favorite mechs from a Battletechnology issue, so I paid a great DeviantArt Artist to modernize this Mech.
Here is the image and I've added some color and filled in the line art.
I'd love to see some repaints of this Mech by some of you talented individuals.

Here is the original pic from the Battletechnology magazine.

Here is the remake.
