Eventually he just becomes a low buzz in the background ;)

I don't know. I think he's not unlike these forums' own version of Gollum. Somehow he has a part to play in this saga...

You're the artist, make one yourself...

But really, I don't want to offend anyone. The design is very nice, just doesn't suit my taste. No need to get offended when someone doesn't like some of your work (kinda like Paul). :)

But I can easily understand why you did as you did. Endless hours put into that scrappy look and first comment is: "I don't like it." I'd probably get offended a bit, too.

On this post you at least recognize the work behind the repaint and not only your taste. I invite you to search the camospecs and look at reference to know where an fan artist comes from... In this case, if you analyze the work necessary to reproduce a scrappy look as you call it, you'll find that there is actually an entire layer of metal painting behind the scrap paint layer. Then decal layers and details were added and extra effects for rust and added wear. So yes much work went into this. Technically one of the toughest for me to do...

I love it, very realistic. Keep up the great work.

Could you do something with this?

Cool. But I have a long overdue date with a Grasshopper work in progress file... That will be my focus for the next week or so.

IronHawk, more outstanding work as usual, I am talking to my peers over in the Rangers. I will hopefully be able to get back on later this week with an answer to your question.
Til next time

Uhm, where is the 'ignore' button in this forum? :P
Search for the Member, then when the database finds him, click on his profile name, then hit Ignore This Member. Unfortunately, you still receive their email, but at least it gives you time to get rid of the heat that comes to your neck. I've already done so for Mr. Tourrette's. :)

I'm not that bad,or insulting.

I just sometimes say something when I should've bitten my lips.

Adridos, I'm only responding to this because, as I explained earlier, I still get your emails. I have had to learn to take time to use my words better, to not be so excited, and I'm not always successful, but I will tell you that you need to work a lot harder at controlling what you say. Try using "I" statements and refer in your comments to yourself. For example, when criticizing, use something like 'I'm not trying to be overly critical, but I thought...' and complete your statement, rather than blatantly coming out and saying 'That sucks, and it should be this way.'

I don't believe you're trying to be mean on purpose, but I consider how I use my words as carefully as possible before I post them. Unfortunately, that also means what I post is generally well-considered, is my final word, and sometimes it's disagreeable to those with thin-skin.

Now for some criticism: you ARE that bad, and you ARE insulting. Learn to bite your lip, take your time, and post more constructively. When you do, I'll remove you from my ignore list.

I never knew I was on your ignore list in the first place. :o

But that doesn't matter now...

Guess it's my nature, but I think it's at least better than lying to someone.

It's OK Adrios, I've come to accept you as social potpourri on the forums, and will leave you unblocked. Ok folks, let us get back on topic :D

Pirates! The Order of the Faithful

The Order's supposedly ancient 'Mechs, recovered from buried desert stockpiles, retain their Star League Defense Force khaki color. However, the rough life on Astrokaszy has weathered them with excessive amounts of wear, tear, and lack of maintenance.

I hope this rendition is correct

Well I would say that rendition is indeed correct, Ironhawk. You even put the ugly face decal on the lower right leg. :)
Glad I've inspired you to put that extra work into yours! The Order of the Faithful characters are pretty much the bottom-of-the-barrel on an already bottom-of-the-barrel planet. It was my belief that their 'Mechs would be u.g.l.y. and that is what I went for on CSO when creating their 'scheme.' Really appreciate seeing them get some love! (Although I bet they wouldn't reciprocate!)

I'd encourage you to look to Psycho's recent work on 'worn out' 'Mech schemes, and our new painter, Gunji no Kanrei has had a few recent postings with his take on that rusty chipped paint style. Lots of inspiration to go around. :)

Dak,

It's an honor to receive your feedback. I hurried my last post because I had to leave the house and did so without due credit as I usually do. I have just edited the post in question with appropriate credit and links. I do admire the passion you, Psycho and your colleagues have put into those great miniature painting renditions and will gladly look into that recent worn out scheme work.

EDIT: Adding link to weathering tutorial: http://www.camospecs...sp?FictionID=56

Best regards,

Thank you! Think maybe you could whip up a shiny Highlander repaint for me?

Wasn't so sure about shiny but I didn't want to let you down so I whipped up this Highlander Cicada model, inspired by the miniature work of Captain_of_the_Watch on CSO. The insignia has been rebuilt from scratch. Hope you like it.

I guess he's shooting that SL at some children of his lawn. ^_^

I don't know why, but every time I see NWH, they seem like a group of old pipe-smoking men.

Nice repaint. ;)

Northwind Higlanders never left the immediate space around their beloved Northwind. No way they could fire at a Liao Raven. B)

I like it! I didn't see your post about a private message until pretty recently, sorry about that. As far as the fancy shine I've been doing, I figured that with us not being allowed to use the name Northwind Highlanders anymore, I'd have some more liberty to change the camo specs. Our new name is actually the Windbourne Highlanders now, so we'll see!

Can't do a whole lot with art, but I gave it a try and this is what I came up with! Not bad for windows paint. I just wish I knew how to use gimp really well or how to do the pics like others have posted, they all look very nice.

Even for paint that's not bad. Heck, a life time ago I got started in paint doing very similar stuff. I know it's trite, but we all have to start somewhere.
