If i were to remove the small laser from the Hunchback 4G what could I add in it's place. Would a SRM fit?

since it´s only half a ton...drop half a ton of armor and replace it with a medium laser

no, as the small laser uses an energy hardpoint, srm need missile hardpoints. also, a small laser weighs only 0.5 tons, the smallest srm2 weighs 1 ton + 1 ton for ammo

Ahhh those damn missile hardpoints! I guess I could just take it off and add some more armor to the torso. Or add a few more rounds to the AC 20.

The public information about the Mechlab (customization options) is available at the sixth dev blog:
http://mwomercs.com/...-blog-6-mechlab
So, there would seem to be three kinds of limitations: Two from tabletop (slots and weight) and hardpoints.
The small laser weights half tons and takes up one slot in the tabletop. As such, unless weight is freed (by taking something else off, too), very few other things weight that little (plus non-energy weapons need also ammunition).
Slot-wise removing the small laser frees up one slot, so this also limits what can be put in its place. The default loadout small laser is in the head, so going with tabletop rules, there's no other free slots and therefore, only one-slot weapons can replace it.
The hardpoints do limit what types of weapons can be used. So unless there is a missile hardpoint available as well, or an "omni" hardpoint (unlikely, since that technology doesn't yet exist in the setting of the game), the laser must be replaced with a laser.
...and yeah, I am in the beta, but can't talk about that, ok? There's this shush-shush deal, also known as non-disclosure agreement. However, i think if you read the dev blog and scour the web for published screenshots about the mech customization, you'll get a pretty good picture how it works.

Armor would work, but ammo always comes in packages of 1 ton, so 0.5 tons less from the small laser dont work with a ton of ac20 ammo

wrong forums
but if its anything like tabletop theres only one slot, so i'd fit a medium laser in there.

based on open info only, you can place:
a small laser
a small pulse laser
a medium laser
a medium pulse
a flamer
or use that half ton to add half a ton elsewhere (more armor, CASE, small laser, MG etc )

NDA means we can tell people we are in the Beta but discussing Beta details needs to be in Beta Forums. Yes even this.

Best bet is to either put that half a ton in to extra armor, preferably around the area of your hunched shoulder, or shave off half a ton of armor elsewhere and add an extra ton of ammo so your main gun can last a bit longer.
