Greetings peoples!
I havent digged into MWO to much, but from what I've seen MWO seems like WoT but with Mechs?
Is this true how the gameplay is going to be?
Also why is there a MechWarriors Online, Universe and a BattleTech Universe forum section?
Does that mean 3 different games?
Newbie questions regarding MWO / forum!

It's so tempting to.... okay, I will resist for now.
Mechwarrior Online is a game in Battletech universe, basically like the Dawn of War games being part of the Warhammer 40k universe.
And the game isn't WoT with mechs,
Mechwarrior is a series of old that spanned 5 games and 4 expansions. You can look them up on wikipedia.
The newest game has some similarities with WoT, but going as far as being just a reskin... not a chance.
For instance, mechs are separated into weight classes, similary to the tanks in WW2.
The classes are 4: lights (20-35 tons), mediums (40-55 tons), heavies (60-75 tons) and assaults (80-100 tons).
Unlike those, however, lighter doesn't mean worse (well, that applies in real world as well and 67 ton M1A2 Abrams is miles better than old around 180 ton German Maus, which never saw battle due to its size). For instance, the first mech ever, the Mackie is 100 tons, is slow as snail, has poor armor and lackluster weapons. 35 ton Raven is the peak of engineering right now, could easily whoop the floor with it.
That applies to the game as well and while you couldn't pilot the Mackie, Raven is in along with another 14 battlemechs. Look into Media section at the top of the site and choose mech concept arts to see them all... or find teh list of them using search function/ heading over to the Mechwarrior: Online wiki.
One thing you'd probably like to ask is if you have to start with a light mech and then move up in the tech tree to get something like, say Cataphract. Here, you just pick one of the starter (or trial, as people in beta call them) mechs, one for each weight class, they are Jenner, Hunchback, Catapult and Atlas.
Ask away any questions you'd like answered, because even I can't read minds and write everything about the game to the letter.

Hello there.
1) You can view official videos here in their Youtube Channel - http://www.youtube.c...chwarrioronline
2) Check through the announcements and stickies for your other queries
3) Mechwarrior Online is this online F2P game, Mechwarrior Universe is the RPG/Computer Game (kinda) and Battletech was the Table Top (miniatures, maps, dice, etc) part of the game. They exist in the same universe but have different fanbases (and sometimes combined).
Hope this helps.

So FPS with fully customizable Mechs and some sort of interaction with a persistance worlds thingy ... mmhmmm
I was hoping they would follow lead and go in the route of EVE Online / Perpetuum Online gameplay...
You know - Single Shard, Huge Sandbox MMORPG

Match-based instanced gameplay
Mechs in a sandbox MMO would be a waste, mechs are meant to fight in short engagements in a squad/company setting.

Well, you can follow the game's progress and you may like it eventually. No need to make a rush decision. A few key features will also be added later past open beta.

Well, from the economic perspective, all people who enjoy that type of games already play one of those and there's no room for another one. And huge games are pretty hard and expensive to make, that's why EVE Online cheats by being set in space and not much is required in terms of "landscapes".
