Is it just me or does it look like if its kicked in the waist by a person the entire top will fall off?

So it is not an angry mob with sticks and pitchforks that will come at him. It will be a mob of Clans which hate the new IS design. ^_^

according to you, a handful of people is a 'mob'? lol!
'you does not like everything drawn! burn, dissentorz!"

I'm all for redesigns, but for this I see too much of FD's mecha drawing bleeding through into this redesign -
things like the troso cockpit, slimline legs, skinny hands. It's missing a lot of the hallmarks of the original design,
the 'aesthetic tags' if you will.

and what's wrong with simplified weapon cowls, they actually make more sense and don't look halfbad.
I also just noticed another bad trend, this is the second time that FD has rendered a 'gun arm' (a mech limb that ends
in a barrel) into a single amorphous block - he did this with the dragon as well. Battlemechs are known throughout any faction
to have the capability of putting guns into arms that are more than just the upper arm actuator! It's like imaging Samus Aran with a full left arm, and just a cannon sticking out of her right shoulder, just too silly.

Somebody is making me out to be angry...sad is more like it. Please read my praise for his artwork, I mean him no ill will and am not commiting an ad hominem just saying it is not the Centurion, but it is a cool mech...honestly it looks like it belongs more in anime than battletech.

Hmmm...my first thoughts...so-so. Just makes me feel better about piloting the heavies and assaults. Mech looks ok, but by no means is my favorite. My guess is that they are saving the big fireworks for the spring and summer.

I may have just found my dedicated Medium Mech. And I've certainly foind my newest wallpaper. FD, you are a gentleman, a scholar, and an artist to boot. Keep 'em rollin' off the assembly lines.

Agreed Amarus, this is definitely an instance of "artistic license." Some are going to dig it, some will not. Such are aesthetics.

On the bright side, I love the 39th Avalon Hussars regimental patch, which says to me the devs know that this mech is loved in the Fed Suns just as the Dragon is in the Combine. A video game made by people who appreciate the lore, Amen to the tenth power!

Cheers

Oh hey, this 'Mech isn't an Intro Boxed Set 'Mech! Definitely looking forward to the Stalker if that's the case.

Looks a lot like the Wizkid's Centurion.... without the big axe and shield.

Haha Ghost beat me to it, when I saw that badboy first thing that sprung to mind was Justin Xiang Allard and his Centurion, gives us the fingernails and we'll be nearly there.

I like it, nice MWO feel to it and really fits in with this battletech universe that Piranha are creating.

Oh wow.
Usually I've always shunned the Centurion as one of those extremely ugly and stupid looking far-too-human mechs, but I'd totally buy and use this one.

Nice work.

Cool story bro... ...now really, where is the centurion? Honestly not hating on FD's skill because I think it is an amazing picture based on the centurion but is most certainly not the centurion. (I understand wanting to reimagine the mechs but there comes a point when you need to go "ok yeah that is definitly something else") RIP my friend http://ppc.warhawken...s/centurion.gif (even clansmen love the old mechs)

Is it bad that I laughed out loud when I loaded that image? :(

That thing looks all sissy compared to FD's version.
