I paid $60 for this because new games (that you pay for) cost about this much. I'm a battletech junkie, so I know I'm gonna love it here, and i trust the money is well spent on my entertainment.

The closed beta thing is just an awesome perk. :D

As stated several times already in the thread.... there are many individuals in the Closed BETA who have not purchased Founders Packs. The waves of individuals accepted into the closed BETA where based on criteria setup by PGI. Those who chose to support the game and buy Founders Packs where granted access randomly before or by August 7th. Those who choose to purchase a Founder Pack while the sale is still going on will be granted immediate access to the BETA.
This does not mean PGI will not allow more individuals into the BETA who are not founders over the course of the Closed BETA.
