Hey guys...

Ive been following this game from a distance... not in a creepy way ;). Anyways I had a few specific questions I thought I would ask before I dontated to the cause...

First: Anyone playing in a GTX 680 SLI or a single GTX 690 setup? If so... how is the performance? Please dont confuse this question with "can I run it"... yes I know I can run it, just wondering if there are any optimization problems with the 6 series card like other beta's are having.. *cough* planetside *cough*.

Second: is keyboard / mouse sufficient or would you reccomend a joystick or 360 controller?

Third: has anyone tried out 3D vision? Did you giggle like a school girl or is it just meh?

Finally: not sure if this can be discussed, but, how popular do you think this game will be with competition with other F2P games? I know that the mechwarrior fans are not concerned with the popularity of the game per say, though a vibrant community makes for a better experience... in my opinion.

Right now, my only contention is between hawken and MWO. Obviously MWO favors the Sim/Lore side quite a bit more. Lore means nothing to me, other than continuity with other mechwarrior games. MWO is MY first choice, but I have teenagers, who will favor the FPS style of hawken more. We tend to get involved in on-line games as a family, so it's a group choice for us. I have not played either as of yet, so I can only go by what I read. Keyboard/mouse is always the optimal choice for power-gaming...in any game. Mech-based games have always been unique however, as the immersion and movement controls favor the joystick enough that it's actually "viable". Personally, I always favor immersion.

Got nothing about the graphics cards or 3D vision, sorry.

I've heard a lot of support for mouse and keyboard, but I've always used a joystick, with Mercenaries I used a Sidewinder. I'm going to give mouse/keyboard a shot, but I've also got a 360 controller that I'll probably end up using more.

In terms of doing well competitively, I feel like it depends on how well the Free-to-Play style is implemented. My most recent F2P has been Tribes, and I like that it can be truly free. They don't force you to pay gold for anything (aside from skins, which have no effect on gameplay), so if you don't feel like giving money, you can just earn XP and buy things that way.

I'm hoping they don't use a rental system, because I feel like that can cause problems if they make it unclear or something. Blacklight has a rental system that I thought was kind of frustrating, but that might have just been me.

Basically, make it so people can really play free, and it'll do well. Force people to pay to stay competitive, and it might not.

First: NDA.

Second: Personal preference.

Third: NDA.

Finally: The only directly competing titles at the moment as MW4 and MW:LL.. MW4 is old and outdated as far as I am concerned.. and MW:LL while good just doesn't have the population to really compete.. and the reliance on having Crysis Wars doesn't help it either. Inidrect competition from World of Tanks and other similar games is the main competitor I'd say.. and from what I can tell, people have been looking for something that is NOT WoT for some time now. As for Hawken.. well.. time will tell.. that's probably where most of the population will be lost to and that is only because that game has a completely different game mechanic and some people prefer that kind of gameplay.
