Whatsup all you old school pc gamers! I have fond memories of playing mechwarrior 2, 3, 4 netmech & mech commander 1 & 2. I'm sure there's enough of you out that that's thinking, those were really fun games. Maybe even to the point of digging through boxes of stuff to find your old cds.

Was on the way to ebay a copy but apparently mech warrior 4, and mech commander 2 are now considered freeware!

EDIT: AVG, not sure about other anti virus programs might say this game is a trojan. Did some research on it and it seems that it's a perfectly fine 'issue'. It works great on my rig, although in the beginning the image has issues adjusting to widescreen.

I'm a Mech Commander 2 vet myself, although I never played online. It's the best RTS I have ever played.

Mechwarrior, EGA MPBT, Cresent Hawks Inception/Revenge, MPBT Solaris (not a ton), MW 2 mercs, MW3, MW4, Mech Commander 1/2 (no MP really on this one). Ran some leagues for MW2,3 hope to see alot of old school people playing.

As for digging thru I still have them all in some form :)

My first mw game was mw2 as well, pretty amazing for the time imo.

Started with the TT then got the original MW when it came out.
Beat it repeatedly in a Locust. Easy to do if you timed it right and ran down the side of the map behind the big guys.
After that they'd ignore you and you just kept pouring rounds into the legs till they dropped.

Mw2,3,4 and expansions were always a blast, but too focused on Clan invasion. I always hoped for one game that followed a succession War.

I did a bit of online fights, but had a hard time as I was in college and studying came first.

Nice trip down memory lane. I'm in the process of grabbing the books out of storage now.

Mechwarrior 4 and Mech Commander are old school?

I played Mecwarrior 2 on mplayer.

Mech Commander is my favorite RTS, probably the only one I played for any length of time until Company of Heroes. Hate base building RTS games.

EDIT: Added a note on top. MW4 AVG says it a trojan. Did some research on it, and it seems the game is legit so no need to worry.

You forgot MechCommander Omnitech, the indie re-development of MC2. It's awesome and can be found here:

Am I right in assuming that MCO is a rebuild of the original MC2? What benefits does MCO have over the original? I can see there are lots of custom campaigns that can be installed for MCO, but I'm assuming that's not all is it?

Hi all-
Fond memories of the original mechwarrior and mercenaries. It's so long ago I can't remember if it was on the families first PC (133mhz if memory serves, 2mb ram) or the old amiga 500. Happy times.

The best thing is watching the splash screen now- it doesn't look too bad but I can remember thinking that one day games will look like that rendered scene. It seems this game is it- fantastic.

My first PC was AMD 586x133MHz 2M RAM and a monster of a Voodoo graphic card :) However, my first mech games were MW3 and MC1, a bit later. At the time I was more interested in Settlers 2, Age of Empires 1, Civilization 2, Master of Orion 2 - this kind of stuff. Yeah, good times :) Still playing MoO2, despite all the new games in genre.

MCO seems to add quite a bit to the MC2 experience, downloading now and can't wait to fire it up, although I liked better MC Gold. Thanks for the info, didn't know people are still creating stuff for the MC series.

Watching the Mechwarrior 2 opening video clip just blew me away! That's the one that started it all for me ;D I have that game all all the sequals. Then got hooked on the mechcommander series. Happy times, playing mechwarrior online mostly with Hansens Rough Riders.

Awesome,
